Big Trouble in Little China SE

Hey. Just wondering whether FOX has any plans whatsoever to re-release the Special Edition 2-Disc version of Big Trouble in Little China in the market with new packaging or something?

I myself don't have a copy and am looking for the special edition, but I find it hard to believe that a movie such as this would stay OOP indefinitely.

So anyone know anything about it?

i haven't heard of a re-release, but you can get used copies on Half.com for 15 or 20 bucks. i just bought a used copy of it there a few weeks ago for $15.

Fox discontinued the SE and released just a single-disc version.

OOP doesn't always mean unavailable

A movie such as what? I love it, but it really has a pretty small following. Not exactly Die Hard or ID4, ya know? I haven't heard of any plans to re-release this.

Anyway, as others have mentioned, there's a single-disc release that's available. And the OOP 2-disc edition never really went up in value -- you can find it in the usual places for less than the original retail price.

The OOP two-disc version is DTS, yes.

but I find it hard to believe that a movie such as this would stay OOP indefinitely.
The movie isn't OOP; they re-released it as a cheap one-disc, I guess because they felt there was a market of people who kinda liked the movie but didn't care about the extra stuff (there's not a whole lot of stuff on the second disc, but the deleted scenes are surprisingly thorough).

Also remember, DVD distributors don't have much respect for Carpenter; 'They Live', 'Prince of Darkness', and 'Starman' still can't get a decent release in this country.

I also see the 2-disc set from time to time at used DVD places.

Hey, thanks for the replies.

I guess I should have been more specific. I was aware of the single-disc version and was referring only to the 2-disc dts version. Anyway, sounds like there isn't any plans for rerelease so I guess I'm hunting down the 2-disc. I'm not sure where borders is btw, but I'll check bargain places. Thanks again.

Costco had a bunch of them about a year ago after it was reported OOP. I got it there for $16.99.

The Big Trouble In Little China 2-Disc Special Edition released on 22 May 2001 is out of print. It had a DTS track. It is still available in some stores. Most stores in my area only have the single disc release at this point. I doubt another SE will be forthcoming unless it is licensed out to another company.
