Is there a large enough following to support a Showgirls VIP edition?
I have seen parts of this flick, and thought the movie was terrible. I know this movie received a lot of press at the time it was released in theaters. I am also sure that this flick has a few fans. However, is this set going to be hot enough to even support its release? I guess I haven't heard enough about this movie to think it would be economically feasible to release such a grand and expensive set.
Any thoughts?

I would have snatched it up on release day if they had included some extra stuff from people involved with the movie. As it stands, I'm willing to double dip if they ever offer the new release at a much cheaper price.

ukywyldcat I have been wondering the same thing since I heard this was comming out. I thought this was by far one of the worst movies Ive ever seen. I agree there are probably fans of the movie, but there are alot of movies more deserving of a nice edition like this. Just my opinion though......

As a side note... I've always felt they picked the wrong girl from Bayside. Maybe the movie would have been a hit if Tiffany was on stage.

Theres definately some classic stuff in this movie. "Put some ice on them..." I hope they release the disc seperately as I don't want the playing cards, etc. If so I will gladly replace my current disc.

Strangely enough the film has garnered "Cult Classic" status. I've even heard that in big cities you can find late night showings ala Rocky Horror Picture Show style.

Anyway, I didn't realize it was going for $26 to $30 on places like DDD until after I made the post this morning...I saw the MSRP only.
Also, the word "grand" really applied to all the extras and attractive packaging.
I can think of TONS of movies that deserve this "grand" treatment, as can anybody here, and that would be MUCH more profitable.

Oe of the best "bad" movies of all time - never boring, but jaw-dropping lines and outrageous plot put this in a class by itself.
But.... I don't really need a lot extra junk sitting around my apartment, so I'll pass. I'd upgrade for a disc-only with commentary and some deleted scenes (if what they left in was this awful, can you imagine...?).

I do agree though, it seems a little much for a B movie, although, they tend to do things like this for movies like Showgirls. Sometimes, the more B a movie is, the better the DVD release

I already parted ways with my old copy - took asking one buddy if he wanted it to make the sale. The new edition shall be min. Also, the comment about camp selling and classics not, I believe this to be true also. I think I read in another thread that this is one of the top five sellers for MGM. I have personally watched this several times whilw Ben Hur and Lawrence of arabia and Citizen Cane rarely get watched.

This movie apparently has a huge gay following. My best gay friend screens it all the time (it's his favorite movie). We watched it once on his birthday and I couldn't stay awake.

I'll buy this one, only because I was an extra for the strip club scenes. I was one of the guys drooling in the crowd the entire time at the Palimino club scenes which were really a soundstage in Hollywood.

He's about to, a Dutch one even! Can't wait. Supposed to be a thriller or something, going back to his roots. I have the Verhoeven Collection from Anchor Bay with his Dutch films (as well as Spetters separately), and all are just awesome.
I don't see how anyone can be happy with the current edition though. It's non-anamorphic for one, and no extras. This will be a loaded 2-disc set, so definitely a no-brainer. I couldn't care less about all the physical filler junk, which I'll probably just throw away, but I'm getting this for the DVD.
