How Long Until The Treasures Sell Out?

How long do you think I have to pick them up before they're gone for good? I'm a bit strapped for cash, but will work to get some if nessecary.

I wouldn't worry, its not a very advertised/popularized release.
I was able to find the Complete Goofy DVDs in June 2003 as they were released in Dec 2002.

I still find them on occasion. The Fred Meyers near me has the Disneyland volume from wave 2.

Still, I regret not getting the Davey Crocket set. After some consideration, I would have like to get my hands on it. Ah well.

Discs like this, I clear the other dvd wants out to make sure I've got the cash for these. I can pick up most dvds at anytime, (most of the time they get cheaper), but these go up in value. Gotta get them now. (Today)

I have the complete set of all 11 treasures.

I was lucky to pick up the first seven as a boxed set at Costco. I was happy as I remove the tins anyway. From now on, I buy these the day the come out.

You can still get the Crockett tin for a reasonable price at places like eBay, Half, and Amazon if you really want it.

I believe that Davy Crockett is being rereleased in a different package in August. Here is a link:

This one is only 2 eps and not OAR.

Davy Crockett was made for TV in 1953, and OAR is 1.33:1. There were made 6 episodes (on the Treasures set), and afterwards 3 and 3 episodes were edited into 2 theatrical features. These theatrical versions are being released in August.

The one set I have opened has a little plaque (it is no longer stamped on the tin) that says that it is a limited edition of 105,000, which is less than than the 150,000 of the first run of Treasures and 125,000 of the second run. Thus, I'd expect the current run to run out sooner than the first two. I find this peculiar as I understood the delay was to increase the number available.

That said, I found plenty at my local Sam's (especially) and Best Buy (at a higher price) and past experience says they will be readily available for quite some time. But eventually they will run out, so I recommend not hesitating.

I've always been able to find these well after the hysteria about them going OOP, so I wouldn't stress too much.

I've seen Mickey B&W and Goofy DVDs in stores as late as January 2003.

According to the limitation certificates inside the sets, the Mickey Volume 2 set has 175,000 copies made, Donald Volume 1 has 165,000, On the Front Lines has a whopping 250,000, and Tomorrowland has only 105,000. I suppose they expect the Tomorrowland set to have less appeal, and On the Front Lines to have more, since these have been seen much less. You might want to take these numbers into consideration, but frankly I'd get them as soon as I could afford them.

They’re probably right. For example I’m getting Tomorrow Land not because I’m particularly fond of the content but to have all treasures.

And for the WWII set, you will have three big categories of people who would want it:

Those who like to collect “bad” cartoons

Those who like Disney stuff

Those who like WWII

How quickly did the volumes in the earlier releases sell out? Were they just as limited? Can they be found at retail anymore?

About 6 months or so (give or take).

The first 2 waves were limited to 150,000 each.

I suppose there may be some in random stores at retail, but no. These are pretty much sold out everywhere. They still pop up in used bins every now and then. And the eBay prices for (most) of them are reasonable.

There are still some online retailers with Behind the Scenes, Davy Crockett, and [the censored] Disneyland USA.

Also, you can get Silly Symphonies and Mickey Mouse in Living Color vol 1 in R2. These are cheaper than R1 ebay and the R2 Silly Symphonies has the uncensored Jewish mask.

Who?

The only site I can find listing these is DVDBoxOffice -- a Canadian site that is notorious for listing stuff they don't have and can't get.
