Disney Treasures Wave 3 - Retailer Aftermath?
Release Date: 5/18/04
Mickey Mouse in Living Color 175,000
On the Front Lines 250,000
Tomorrow Land 105,000
Chronological Donald 165,000
Ok, I know many of you prefer to hand pick through the dented / scratched tins. So how was your local retailer experience?
Plenty of stock?
Ratio of clean to dented tins?
People buying multiple copies?
...and any other stories you wish to tell.

Our local Wal Mart had a bunch of them. At least 4 or 5 each of Mickey, Donald, and Tomorrowland and about 12 of the Front Lines. They were 24.42 each. The tins were still in their cardboard packing/shipping boxes (the girl was just wheeling them out to the shelves when I walked in), so all of the tins were in perfect condition.
This morning, our local Target handed a couple tins to those customers who asked for them (they hadn't put them on the shelves yet), but when I asked how much they were selling for, they said that they made a mistake and couldn't sell them (saying that they were supposed to be released on 5/23??? Sunday? OK). When I left, a couple of clerks were walking through the store trying to track down the copies they had already handed out to customers to get them back. I told them that they did, in fact, come out today, and left it at that.
Fortunately for me, I got my 4 copies (1 each) so I'm good to go until Wave 4 comes out!

The Best Buy I went to had about eight or so of each box on the shelf, but I got the only non-dented Tomorrowland set. They were labeled as $28.99 but rang up at $24.99, as expected. Some of those poor Treasures looked pretty beat up. The only thing I am upset about is that there are those plastic security tabs stuck on the paper "wrap" with Roy Disney's signature.

Just got back from Best Buy where I picked up On The Front Lines. They had quite a few of each title on the shelf. Didn't see too many dented tins. One of the Tomorrowland sets had a fairly good sized dent, but nothing a person couldn't fix at home. And after a pricematch to Target and a reward zone $5 coupon, OTFL ended up costing me $19.43. I'll be getting Tomorrowland from amazon.com as soon as a couple giftcards arrive.

The Costco I went to had loads of them, for $21.99. Couldn't really tell much about the tins as they are in the usual longboxes Costco use, but as I don't really care about the tins anyway, it was all good. Also picked up Enter the Dragon and TGTB&TU, but that's neither here nor there.
I stopped at Best Buy before Costco, and they had about 5 of each Treasure on the shelf. I laughed at the $29 price and picked up what I had originally went there for.

I bought all 4 at Walmart this morning just to be safe. I planned on getting my set at Costco, but won't get there til tonight, and figured I'd have a complete set just to be sure. I actually opened the box at Walmart for them. I bought an extra Tomorrow Land as a backup just incase mine is defective or something....(they only had 2, so I cleaned them out)

I was at my local mall's Disney Store when it opened -- they had at least a half dozen of each of the four titles, with no dents or scratches on any of the copies. $24.99 each. Figured I'd be better off buying in person, what with the denting problems some people have had with mail order.

went to Best Buy picked up Front Lines and Tomorrowland, passed on the other two because I'm tight on cash these days. They had a pretty good number of all 4 left. Most were in pretty good shape, I noticed a few with some scratches but no major dents to be seen. It looked like Mickey and Donald were going pretty fast, but there were still more of them then the other two.

OK, I know that this has been answered, but I picked up my copies at Price Club, and I don't seem the numbering on the tins. Is the numbering inside now (I think that it says something about an authentic something or other inside)? I did a quick search but didn't find anything.

Has anyone else noticed how the security tags have been placed on the back of the band? This was the case at Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. I don't know if it's a Wal-Mart thing or not. If I recall, the last Wave had a small card with the security tag on it enclosed in the case.

All the copies I saw at Fry's Electronics in Sunnyvale, CA were not dented. They had probably between 8-12 of all but Donald; there were only 3 or 4 on those on the shelf.
