ranking the top kisses in us movie history

From CSM's enewsletter of 17 May

Pucker up: ranking the top kisses in us movie history

To help promote the new chocolate/caramel version of its famous Kiss,
Hershey Foods Corp. has unveiled its list of Hollywood's greatest
on-screen lip-locks. The announcement was made atop the Empire State
Building, a popular place for romantic embraces. In partnership with Us
Weekly magazine and leading movie houses, Hershey selected the Rhett
Butler (Clark Gable)/Scarlett O'Hara (Vivian Leigh) kiss in "Gone with
the Wind" as the best yet. The top 10 kisses and the movies (with year
of release) in which they occurred:

1. Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh, "Gone With the Wind" (1939)
2. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie, "Doctor Zhivago" (1965)
3. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, "Casablanca" (1942)
4. Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn, "Sabrina" (1954)
5. Rock Hudson and Doris Day, "Pillow Talk" (1959)
6. Molly Ringwald and Michael Schoeffling, "Sixteen Candles" (1984)
7. Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift, "A Place in the Sun" (1951)
8. Judd Nelson and Molly Ringwald, "Breakfast Club" (1985)
9. Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds, "Singing in the Rain" (1952)
10. Winona Ryder and Ethan Hawke, "Reality Bites" (1994)
Ringwald twice and Princess Bride not even on the list I mean after all according to it it was one of the top three right

I think the Cruel Intentions kiss between Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair definitely belongs on the list.

Besides, it's amusing how everyone complains about these lists usually being biased toward newer movies/events, but this one seems the opposite.

Well it is a list from Hershey being used as a marketing campaign so maybe it's a conspiracy aimed at a target audience Trying to get the grandparents to purchase candy for their grandkids since all the parents are into health kicks now

I think you have to include Chris Reeve and Margot Kidder, "Superman" (1978). In terms of significance (Lois Lane's memory erase) and emotional impact (Clark Kent losing Lois' love), it is definitely one of the best.

I also think the first kiss of James Stewart and Donna Reed, "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946) ought to be top ten.

Remove the two Ringwald kisses.

Rock Hudson. HAHAHAHAHA

This list is null and void since it doesn't include Gina Gershon and Jennifer Tilly(Bound) somewhere in the top 3.

D
(Yes, I do see the irony in this post).

What about Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster on the beach in From Here to Eternity?

Of course, you always have the Princess Leia and Han Solo kiss in Empire.

Even for a tame senior citizen's list, this is an absolute must-have.

How about Notorios.

Or It's a Wonderful Life.

Both have great kissing scenes and both even involve people on the phone.

Even though it seems to be geared to older movies it is difficult to top Gone with the Wind.

I don't know if I would say this list is biased towards older films. You have to remember that the zenith of an older films romantic moment was the kissing scene. That was really all they could show, so it became a central element and was perfected in that genre.

Doesn't Notorious have the claim for the longest onscreen kissing? How can that kiss not be in top 10?

Grace Kelley kissing a sleeping Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window is the apex for me. That was just amazing.

Christopher Reeve and Michael Caine

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

but seriously, any kiss when 2 women are kissing ranks up there.

Did Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon make out in that movie they did? forget the name, and who cares? LOL)

Rebecca Romijn Stamos and the half-naked Gold Snake Jewelry chick (another one that cant remember the name too and dont care)

That one is pretty amazing, but it seems more like a make-out than a kiss.

and that Grace Kelly scene should definitely be in there

I would also add the scene under the bridge in Henry and June. It was between Henry Miller and Anaïs Nin (well the characters at least).
