completists. they always try to make it sound like a dirty word. I love how they try to make it seem that anyone who likes it is an idiot. fanboy sounds a little too queer...so completist it is.

i think they're great.... for zombie movies

very very creepy atmosphere...

but overall, i still think The Beyond is better (quality wise)

I liked this movie. I wouldn't really call it a zombie movie though. Yeah, there's a handful of zombies, but they're more like a consequence of things happening in the film. They could be a plague of locusts or a drought.

Does this film make sense at all times? No. Does it make sense at all? Mostly no. But it's got good atmosphere, genuine creepiness, and the best use of maggots in a movie ever. I bought it blind and am not sorry.

great movie. the atmosphere is great. very creepy. i agree with one of the previous posters as well, its not really a zombie movie. more of a gory/supernatural wacked out movie. haha

Have you seen "The Beyond" yet?

Comparing "City of the Living Dead" (aka "Gates of Hell," which I prefer because City of... sounds too Romeroish) to "The Beyond," I'd have to say that CotLD has a more coherent storyline than The Beyond, but the "look" of CotLD (including the lighting, cinematography, and make-up special effects) is inferior. Be advised, though, that I've only seen it on an old VHS tape, so the DVD may improve on things like the lighting and such.

CotLD has some classic Fulci set pieces, like a rain of maggots, a woman puking her guts out (literally!), and a drill to the head.

not really...it still looks like crap. might consider that limited import, if I find the pic is better.

You'll love it. One of my favorites, in spite of the abrupt ending. (due to lost film footage and lack of budget for a re-shoot)

although the film has been presented in various other countries letterboxed, as well as AB's - the OAR restores the gruesome gore from the drill through the head scene that is missing on cropped non-widescreen video versions of the film.
