movies that are a few minutes too long?

these are just movies that you think could have used a 10 minute trim that would have no impact on story.
AI, there were a few endings to the movie, and i could have been over 10 minutes earlier and it would have been the exact same
matrix reloaded. we could have cut the club scene and monica's kissing scene with Neo, and well you know.

Van Helsing...it's about 132 minutes too long.

Seriously though, I could have done without the multiple endings on The Return of the King...they could have been saved for the Expanded Edition DVD.

I loved OPEN RANGE, but the last 10 minutes could've easily been clipped.

Pirates of the Caribbean was the first one to pop into my mind.
Entertaining film, but a little long-winded.

I watched Calendar Girls with my fiancee and her mom on Sunday, and it was OK but if they cut out about a 1/2 hour of the melodrama it would have been a lot better. It seemed to get to a point and then just utterly drag on.

The fans would've rioted. The ending was perfect and did the book justice more than anything else in the rest of the films.

Hey, I disagree with you, I wouldn't of rioted. End that movie sooner and you're golden PJ.

Also, Minority Report, if that movie ends 10 minutes earlier, without the last "twist" I'd hold it in much higher esteem.

I say they shouldve cut one of those endings and showed Saruman's fate in the theatrical release.

What exactly would you have cut?

In regards to the original header, Kill Bill Vol. 2 would have benefited from a few excised minutes, especially in the last act.

i dont see how ten more minutes then you'd like to see in a film could bother anyone, unless something stupid happens in that ten minutes, but its just ten minutes, and if its ten minutes of nothing who cares as long as it doesnt hurt the movie.

Ten minutes of nothing isn't a problem????
I see we have a fundamental disagreement here that can never be resolved.

i think the last act is perfect. there is a hell of alot of tension in the air into that act that you don't know what's going to happen.
Also i think the ee's ending of rotk might be longer.

Ten minutes in film time is a long, long time, my friend.

In RotK, the slow-mo shots of Frodo and Sam's faces that were shown over and over again could have been left on the cutting room floor. Once was enough - they became redundant and quite annoying.

Open Range could have had a few minutes cut from its ending.

Something's Gotta Give (2003). I was really starting to get antsy during that one.

The Deer Hunter
The length of the wedding scene was quite unnecessary.

Yea, wasn't the wedding scene about 45 minutes long? Easily could have cut it in half and wouldn't have missed anything.

Master & Commander. I loved it but...

Spoiler:
The whole part of the story about no wind and the guy no one liked being the curse was just a waste of time. Take that whole part out and just keep the guy alive till the end or something, it would have made the movie a lot more "tight". I can understand why it's there and what they're trying to say, it was just the slowest part in the film for me and had nothing to do with the rest of the story (hunting down the other ship).
