Biggest Differential in Real age between Actors playing Characters of Same Age ?

Just watching Mean Girls and looked at the Imdb

Lindsay Lohan is 18
Lacey Chabert is 22
Rachel McAdam is 28!

they are all playing characters the same age at high school

10 years difference in real age between Lindsay and Rachel!

Rachel sure looks fine for her age

can 10 years be beaten ??

How about 22 years?

Hamlet (1948)

Laurence Oliver (age 41) played Hamlet
Jean Simmons (age 19) played Ophelia, who is about the same age as Hamlet

Bonus factoid:

Eileen Herley (age 28) played Hamlet's mother, Gertrude

The Manchurian Candidate (1962)

Angela Lansbury (then 37) played mother to Laurence Harvey (then 34).

In Clueless, Stacey Dash was 10 years older than Alicia Silverstone and 11 years older than Brittany Murphy

I think this is a different category - smallest differential in age between two actors playing characters from different generations

In that category:

The Graduate: Dustin Hoffman (30) playing a recent college graduate seduced by his girlfriend's* mother, played by Anne Bancroft (36).

North by Northwest: Cary Grant (55) is the same age as the actress playing his mother, Jessie Royce Landis.

Sabrina (1954): Humphrey Bogart (55) is four years older than the actor playing his girlfriend* Sabrina's father, John Williams.

*using "girlfriend" as shorthand, actual relationship more complex.

Yes, but I believe that Bogart's character is supposed to be an older man. Although seeing an aging Bogart kiss a young and vibrant Audrey Hepburn is a definite yewwwww moment.

You're right, this is probably another category, related to biggest differential between ages of romantically involved characters

Sabrina: Humphrey Bogart (55) and Audrey Hepburn (25)

Doesn't beat Harold and Maude: Bud Cort (23) and Ruth Gordon (75).

Sorry for thread hijacking ...

I think Ralph Macchio was around 23 for The Karate "Kid".

Judd Nelson was too old to be in Breakfast Club (maybe 26 or 27).

You can just tick off all the 80s teen movies and find a bunch

My favourite would have to be The Mambo Kings, where Tito Puente played himself, even though the movie was set in the 50's and filmed in the 90's!
You know you're cool when...

He was about 28 for Karate Kid III and co-star Robin Lively was only about 18.

On the other hand Elisabeth Shue's only two years younger than Macchio, so the age difference wasn't much for the first Karate Kid movie.

One of my favorites is on 8 SIMPLE RULES where Amy Davidson plays the YOUNGER sister - even though she's 24 and Kaley Cuoco is 18.

On "Gilmore Girls" Keiko Agena and Alexis Bledel both play 19-20 year olds. Alexis Bledel is 22, Keiko Agena is 30.

on a somewhat related note in North by Northwest

Cary Grant .... Roger O. Thornhill ... born 18 January 1904

Jessie Royce Landis .... Clara Thornhill (Roger's Mom) ... born 25 November 1904

She had a baby at 11 months old, that's quite impressive!

If you want to do TV shows, Buffy is good for some laughs. Charisma Carpenter is a year older than Nick Brendan, who in turn is 3 years older than Hannigan, who is 3 years older then Sarah Michelle Gellar, who was 3 years too old for her character, who was the same age as the other 3.

What the hell is this? The SATs?

Let's see ... when the show started, the characters were 15, I think. That means Gellar was 18, Hannigan was 21, Brendan was 24, and Carpenter was 25.

On the other hand, James Marsters and David Boreanz are significantly younger than the characters they play.

Damn, you stole mine! Stacey Dash was 29 when Clueless was released. She's a year older than me, and I'm an old fart! She was still playing a high-school kid in Clueless (the TV show) until recently...

Ian McDiarmid as Darth Sidious in the SW Ep. 1-3. I was gonna say Frank Oz as Yoda, but I guess voice over doesn't count.

More on Stacy Dash. She was 22 when she played a teenager in Richard Pryor's Moving. 7 years before Clueless.
Was she ever young? lol

How big a gap was it between Cedric the Entertainer's real age and his character's age in Barbershop?

Even better:

Romeo & Juliet (1936)

Leslie Howard (age 43) plays Romeo, who is supposed to be what, 15?
John Barrymore (age 54) plays Mercutio.

During the filming of Grease, which has one of the oldest-looking high school casts in cinema, Dinah Manoff (Marty) was 19, John Travolta was about 23, but most of the rest of the actors were well into their upper 20s -- Olivia Newton-John was 29 and Stockard Channing was 33!

I remember finding out back in the days that on 90210 the smart girl, with the glasses, was like 30 or something in high school.

Wasn't Ian Ziering in a similar situation? I think he was like 26 when the show started.
