Alright Chris, you see some of the buildup in S5. If things played out like they are and the end result was Tony getting whacked, what would you think?

I think the most likely scenarious for Tony to be dead in the finale are:
NY has him whacked for something he hasnt done yet.
Power struggle involving Christopher
Carmela kills him
I could see a buildup working succesfully for any of those scenarious. Plus there are plenty more that could work as well. If he gets whacked randomly by some retarded midget, I would have a problem. But I dont really think Tony will die in the finale. I think the closing scene will be ducks flying back into his pool. I dont really have any idea why I think that, though.

Either whacked or up the river for twenty+ years, those are the two best options for the show's end. I'm just worried that the show will end with no real closure, to lead to a theatrical release two or three years later. That would be very unfair.

I think it would be a fitting end to the show if Tony were to get whacked. I think it would be nice if AJ could start getting involved and possibly take over.

I don't want to see him get whacked but I think it is inevitable.
I think it would be cool if the series went out with a last scene of Tony standing by or looking at the pool and the ducks come back....he loved those ducks.....

Tony is standing with his hands on his hips looking at the pool and the ducks come back. He's smoking a cigar and laughing a bit. It's very quiet. Out of the corner of the screen, you see the barrel of a gun, then hear the sound of it firing, and fade to black.

If they end it with the last scene being him whacked, I will be dissappointed. If he gets whacked and there is some aftermath showing how everyone's life changes, I would be fine with that.

Now, given the pacing and direction of the episodes, I'm not so sure...

Nice touch, DVD Josh! But who would be at the other end of the gun?
I think he will be a dead duck (so to speak) when this series comes to a close.
It will come at the hands of Dr. Melphi when drugs that she prescribes have an adverse reaction to Tony.
This thread has gotten me thinking. He could die in many many ways and still be believable. Although I don't know if it would be as dramatic, but what about him dying of a heart attack? He's not the healthiest guys in the world.
What I've thought ever since the Adriana/FBI storyline began, is that Tony will have her whacked after he finds out about it, leading to Christopher taking him out in the end of season 6 (if that happens to be the final season, afterall). At this point, I hope it will be the final season. If not, I forsee the season premiere of season 7 starring the Fonze waterskiing over some sharks.
