Just saw a commercial saying it will air right after That 70s Show on Wednesday.

cool. I'm hoping for this movie to hit big. It looks entertaining as in a "Oooooh, look at that destruction of places I know" sort of way.

I agree this looks like a lot of fun in that destruction kinda way. Here's hoping the rest of the flick is decent.
I was watching Godzilla (yeah the American one) the other day and have to say. Even though it's a crappy movie, those moments when Godzilla is just smashing shit up are actually pretty solid. Emmerich sucks at drama, but he knows how to tear shit up.

If it's anything like ID4, I'll be happy.
If it's anything like The Patriot and Godzilla, I'm killing Emmerich.

The Patriot is by far Emmerich's best film based soley on the fact that he and Dean Devlin had NO input in the script.

Bullshit. The Patriot was one of the worst films I have ever seen. With the exception of a guy getting his head taken off by a cannonball, I didn't enjoy one other frame of that film. I would say I enjoyed Godzilla more than I did The Patriot.
Now ID4. ID4 is one of the best summer blockbusters in the past decade. A film purely made-up of "style over substance." I enjoyed every bit of it when I first saw it in 1996 and I still do now. No emphasis on plot, just tons of shit blowing up. A true b-movie.

I agree that ID4 is exactly what i love about a blockbuster. I'm really looking forward to the Day after Tomorrow....for the destruction.
Cant wait for it to come out, will definately watch the preview. I like how movies are doing these snippets, seems to really get you psyched for the release.

Yawn... it's the mother of 10.5... big deal. How did this movie not get on the summer bombs poll?

If it's anything like all three movies you mentioned above, I'll be pissed.
I'm really hoping Roland finally has his first good movie here.

I thought this movie was gonna suck, but this clip has shown me the light. It looks pretty decent :).

10 minute trailer, the effects look phenomenal - the acting is pretty horrendous at the beginning of it though. (movie looks entertaining though)
(It's the "extended" trailer that was shown to some geologists a while back I believe)

what was up with the Empire States Building freezing and making the windows explode outward - that was odd.

Maybe the temperature was dropping really fast?

I think the added weight of the entire building freezing put pressure on the windows, and thus they exploded. Or maybe they were just too excited and couldn't hold it in anymore. I dunno.

I saw the preview and I think this movie looks ok. It just has the feel of so many previous disaster films, but with more advanced special effects (Armageddon, Dante's Peak, Deep Impact, Independence Day, Volcano).

I watched this as well last night. I am definitely looking forward to it. I just hope that it doesn't turn into a "father tries to save son" melodrama amidst a global catastrophy.

The action scenes look great, but looks to me like the acting is going to suck, even more than some of the other disaster flicks mentioned....should be fun though!

Steven Speilberg ought to sue for stealing his "people looking" shots that he uses so often in his movies.
Special Effects:
Acting:
Wow - if you have Dennis Quaid looking like he's reading from a cue card, you are REALLY a bad "actor's director"!

Unfortunately, I think you're right. The first twenty minutes of world wide catastrophes, and then two hours of Dennis Quaid plodding through the snow, calling his son's name. I'll still be there though.

I thought the effects looked terrible. I couldnt believe how bad this movie looks. I guess i was thinking it wouldnt be too bad. I'll probably still see it if i get the chance.

[Actor draws curved red line through middle of United States]
"You've got to evacuate everyone below (south of) this line!"
Pardon me but even in a freak ice age won't it still be colder up North? Shouldn't they be evacuating from the Northern Us to the Southern? JMHO ;)

I think the line is screwed up...I think Dennis meant you need to evacuate everybody TO south of this line. I know part of the plot has Americans trying to run across the border into Mexico (the director's cute little twist on Mexicans always trying to come into the States).

doesn't a sudden change in temperature cause glass to break? It happened to my windshield one very cold new england morning when I put on the heat.
