Personally I think the real decision is between Sony's 60WE610 and Samsung HLN617W... I'm considering the Toshiba's 65H83 for it's price. I have a deal for the Sony 60WE610 for $3600 (including the Sony stand, taxes and shipping). But I'm looking into the the Samsung's DLP technology... I don't know about the deal on the Samsung yet. But in order to do so, i would like some opinions on 60WE610 vs. HLN617W, thanks!

Are you in a hurry to buy or already at the limit of your budget? If not, you should go over to www.avsforum.com and read about the the Samsung HLP models coming out soon. A lot of info and comparisons with the Sony as well.
From my experience last fall, the 617 was a bit hard to come by, so a price in the low 4k was good. If I were buying one now, I wouldn't pay over $4000 because of the improvements in the HLP line. It might be hard to find a price that low, however, since there may not be a lot of stock around.
Good luck and have fun shopping.

and do yourself a favor, look for the set you want FIRST, then see which is cheaper. i know cost comes into factor, but the sony and the samsung are about the same price. so, just find the RIGHT tv, if it happens to be cheaper, bonus :)

Thanks all...
Here's the kick, i found the place for Samsung's HLN617W for $3395. Since it's in NYC and i can just go there and pick it up in person, i'm only paying that much (maybe i can haggle a little more for paying cash or sign up for protection services).
so, should i wait a little bit (i'm not gonna move to the new place in three weeks) or just jump on this deal? I don't think the price of such items ever go up (supply and demand, but who knows). However, i would like to see if there's a price drop in three weeks...

Jump on this deal. That is an excellent price for the 617. If I was there I would. :)
