I'm considering buying a 27" HDTV. I can't get a bigger one since it will be in the bedroom. Here are the two I'm considering:

Zenith 27" HDTV Monitor
Brand/Model: ZEN C27V36
Price is $584.99

Panasonic 27" Flat-Screen HDTV Monitor
Brand/Model: PAN CT27HL14
Price: $499.99

http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&u=c&catoid=-11482&qp=0&oid=90895&m=0

Based on the reviews from Circuitcity, Panasonic got a higher rating, especially in the video department. Even though the TV will be mostly used to view DVD's, can I still watch regular tv (antenna, no cable) with it? Any suggestions or comments? Thanks.

Well, I'd get a powered antenna for either one (since new tvs don't normally come with them). You can definitely use it to watch OTA NON-HDTV broadcasts.

Both TVs seem to require an HDTV tuner though, adding substantially onto the cost if you were to want to use HDTV with it.

For a 27" I'd hold off on the HD and just get a decent regular tv. You won't gain all that much IMO. Save your $$$ for a bigger HD set someday...

K thanks for the advice guys. So these tv's do not have hdtv, which means i can't watch hdtv shows?

No tuner in them. Which means no over-the-air hd viewing. You can watch hd channels if your cable/sat company has them.

Still dunno why you'd go for HD on such a small screen. It won't even be WS, so any HD broadcasts (and even prog scan DVDs) will have black bars and an even smaller pic.

I'll save up for a larger tv then. What's the difference between a regular DVD player and one that has progressive scan? thanks.

That's the thing, we just bought a 32" for the livingroom a couple of years ago. Now I really want an HDTV but the tv in the livingroom is pretty new so I can't replace it yet............

Why not swap them? Put the 32 in the bedroom and get a new HDTV for the living room.
