The Bourne Supremacy, July 2004

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere (already did a search), but the sequel to last year's Bourne Identity will be out next summer, according to comingsoon.net. Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Brian Cox, and Julia Stiles will all be back. Personally, I thought this was a really slick action movie, and Damon is a much better action star than most people expected. I can't wait for the new one.

I think this will need more time than this summer to get a decent look about it. But that's just me.

The last one was shot on a limited budget with a lot of practical special effects. If this one is done the same way, I think they could easily have it finished by summer.

New director this time: Paul Greengrass

Damn, I didn't even know about this and now I am excited as hell. Loved the first one - even though they changed the story around considerably, I thought the final product was superb.

Paul Greengrass did an amazing job w/ Bloody Sunday, let's hope can continue the success begun by Doug Liman.

And Karl Urban, Eomer from LotR, is in it, too.

Saw a blurb about this in a magazine I read. I didn't even know they were making it. I'm in. Loved the first one and they're keeping Julia Stiles? Shit, that's a no brainer.

I would assume Julia will have a bigger role this time, since she was little more than a cameo in the last movie. Also I really liked Bloody Sunday, but I wonder how Paul Greengrass will adapt the style of that film to an action movie. Should be interesting.

Hopefully this will be more entertaining to me then the first... i bought the dvd as a blind buy because of all the hype and was thoroughly dissapointed. Great concept, poor exectution. Damon was great though, and i'd like to see more about the character.

I liked the first one a lot, the "practical" special effects made it more real.

Just what did Julia do anyway? She seemed like little more than someone to do computer stuff and clean up messes left behind by the assassins.

I'm a fan of the movie and the book, kinda sad to see Liman go. Thought he did an excellent job with the Bourne Identity, but ah well.

Should be interesting to see though.

While I enjoyed the movie, it had very little in common with the book besides the name of the main character. I don't see how they could make a sequel based on the Bourne Supremacy when the first movie didn't even introduce the character of Carlos the Jackal, who is the main antagonist in the last two Bourne novels.

If they can do it, more power to them, but even in the books, the plot started to become stale after the first novel.

What we really need is a rip-off of the first movie starring Matt Damon's old friend Ben Affleck.

"Carlos the Jackal" . . . wasn't that what Bill Paxton's supposed code name in True Lies (what Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold called him)?

You guys have never heard of Carlos the Jackal?! He was a real guy. Maybe they didn' t include him because the real guy was caught.

I was so tired that I fell asleep during the first one. After buying it on DVD, I was pissed I did.

Great to hear there's a sequel coming out

Carlos 'The Jackal' is mainly an incompetent terrorist who has become of mythic proportion. Saw a docu on him on History Channel a few months back.

I sure hope that date is correct. I loved the first one and it is one of my favorite DVDs. The car chase is awesome. About 2.5 minutes before any crashes. I happened to like the movie way more than the book.
