What Show has the most creative use of time travel?

Whats your favorite temporal paradox? I really like Red Dwarf where they travel back in time, and prevent the JFK assasination. However, soon after the time when he should have died, there was a huge sex scandal, and JFK ended up in jail. So the team convinces JFK that its for the best if he does die, and they get him to assasinate himself from the grassy knoll.

In Sealab 2021, 2 characters get stuck in a loop where they have 15 minutes to save the lab from blowing up, and each time it blows up, their current incarnation gets sent back in time. The captain suspects the 2 from the future are doppelgangers, and imprisons them in the brig. Each sucessive explosion creates 2 new characters, and the brig quickly fills up with Stormies, who use their numbers to play dodgeball, and quinns, who use their combined intellect to escape when they aren't being attacked with dodgeballs. Eventually they break the loop, and the captain makes all the stormies and Quinns fight each other in gladitorial combat, and the last 2 standing get to live.

Stargate SG-1 has a few.

1969: a cosmic accident sends our intrepid crew back in time, where they must find the stargate and figure out how to get back home. (Season 2)

2010: our intrepid crew are in a future that is just peachy keeno. Or is it? Maybe they should find a way to send a message back in time to warn us of the hijinks that have transpired. (Season 4)

2001: our intrepid crew have finally found aliens who can solve all of our problems. Or not! What about this cryptic message that came thru the stargate? (See 2010.) (Season 5)

I think my favorite from the series is Window of Opportunity, where O’Neill and Teal’c are trapped in a Groundhog Day-esque time loop and all manner of hilarity ensues.

The best of all time (no pun intended): TNG's Yesterday's Enterprise. Let the flaming begin.

I'll have to agree on Window of Opportunity. A blatant rip-off of Groundhog Day, but one of the best episodes of Stargate to date. O'Neill and Teal'c playing golf through the Stargate? Priceless.

oh yes, classic material

Hammond:Colonel O'Neill! What the hell are you doing?!?
Jack:In the middle of my backswing?!?

Sam: We haven't been to P4X 639.
Jack: Yes we have…(points at Daniel) No we haven't. That's what you were going to say.
Daniel: Of course that's what I was going to say.
Jack: Okay, bad example.

Jack: But what about Teal'c? C'mon, is this the face of a crazy man? (looks over at Teal'c) Bad example.

Jack: (suspecting Malikai) What kind of archaeologist carries a weapon?
Daniel: Umm...I do.
Jack: Bad example.

Cosign on all of these, though I only really like 1969 because Danny's German accent amuses me to no end. Window of Opportunity is the best. The golf bit is classic as is Teal'c and Jack's juggling bit.

Also you can throw damn near any Quantum Leap, but that goes without saying.

7 Days, that show in which that one guy would go back in time seven days and beat someone up to prevent a national disaster. Maybe that wasn't the _most_ creative.

I did think that Quantum Leap's use of time travel was interesting.

I also liked the X-Files' Groundhog Day-like time-loop episode.

Well, before das gets here, let me jump in and say Babylon 5's "Babylon Squared / War Without End" from both sides time-travel story.

I considered that. I also considered 'All Good Things ...', as I've always loved Q's logic behind the who concept. However, I'm tempted to answer the premise behind Odyssey 5. Now, it certainly wasn't the best, but I do think it has a good chance at the "most creative."

Well, of all the Groundhog-Day-episodes done in different series, this one rates pretty low on my scale. I like the aforementioned Stargate episode.

Star Trek: TNG's Groundhog-Day-episode is Cause and Effect" from Season 5, and I liked that one.

As far as general time-travel episodes go, all the Star Trek series, of course, have a lot of them, with the quality varying wildly.

Anyone remember the show, Time Trax?

The original Oscar-nominated short filmed that this TV movie was based on (and obviously inspired Groundhog Day) is awesome. It's only 25 minutes, but is very effective and rather depressing, thanks to a great performance by Kurtwood Smith (Clarence Boddicker from Robocop and Foreman's dad on That '70s Show).

Thanks. My geekdom is up for review at the end of the month, and I can't have TPTB thinking I'm slipping.

Although Doctor Who is the obvious choice, I'm not sure it's all that "creative" in it's usage of time-travel.

I'll say: TNG "Yesterday's Enterprise", "All Good Things..." and B5 "Babylon Squared / War Without End"

You forgot DS9's "Trials and Tribble-ations", just for the "Forrest Gump"-like work, as well as "Past Tense". TNG's "Cause and Effect" and "Yesterday's Enterprise", B5's "Babylon Squared" and "War Without End" all make the Hall of Time Travel Fame as well.

SG-1's "Window of Opportunity" is one of my series favorites, just for the golf shots, the juggling, and O'Neill plantin' a big one on Carter. Back story: the writers wanted to use Fruit Loops and needed permission from Kellogg - which wanted them to use Eggo waffles, not a hot seller then. The writers response: "He-LLO? Time LOOP? Fruit LOOP? Get it?"
