The Lesser Of Evils: Help Me Choose Three Free Concerts
Hey everyone,
Pine Knob (Clarkston, MI) has this deal they do every year where if you buy three shows you can get three other shows for free. I've definitely got three shows I'd like to buy so I figure I might as well get the free tickets. The only problem is that from the list I've got no clue who to see. Here is the list:
May 30 Foghat/Mountain/Starship
June 5 Clay Walker
June 6 Grand Funk Railroad
June 10 KC and the Sunshine Band/Village People wsg The Trammps featuring Earl Young/Evelyn “Champagne”King/Martha Wash “Discomania Tour”
June 11 “Rock Never Stops”Vince Neil/RATT/Slaughter
June 16 Kansas wsg Asia
July 1 Motown Revue featuring Dennis Edwards
July 1 Get Back! Cast of Beatlemania
July 11* John Michael Montgomery
July 14 ABBA, The Music
July 15 Blue Oyster Cult/April Wine
July 16 The Doobie Brothers
July 20 Pat Benatar
July 21 The Stylistics, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, The Delfonics “ 70’s Soul Jam”
August 13 Nashville Star Tour from USA Network reality show
August 19 Kenny Loggins
August 22 Richard Jeni
August 29 Randy Travis wsg Josh Turner
TBD Gin Blossoms/Seven Mary Three/ Cracker
The only show on that list that really strikes me is the Gin Blossoms show. Of course though, their lead singer left the band 10 years ago. I think I'd still be up for it.
From everyone's concert going experiences, can anyone recommend a few shows for me to check out. Free is free.
Thanks a lot.
Aaron

Gin Blossoms & Cracker for sure (Cracker's a pretty great live band actually)
Vince Neil, Ratt and Slaughter would probably be the most humorous of the shows...Neil's practically a parody of himself anymore, and the entertainment value of that can be tremendous.
The Beatlemania thing could be fun also...guessing they're a pretty good cover band.

Richard Jeni's a pretty funny guy, I don't know how you feel about comedy shows, though.
Grand Funk Railroad could be pretty weird. I don't know what kind of NEW material they would be playing but their Todd Rundgren-produced material ("Locomotion", "Bad Time", etc.) could be entertaining.
Foghat and Mountain would make a decent old-school rock show too. Heavy metal fogies on parade! Roll that doob!

I just realized the Grand Funk show is on the same night as my graduation. Can't make that one. lol
Foghat is a strong possibility at the moment. Starship only sweetens the deal.

holy crap.... definitely go to Gin Blossoms and Cracker... I saw them at a show 10 years ago (probably more now) and it was awesome...talk about a blast from the past! Can't believe they're both still touring together.

My pics for you:
June 11 “Rock Never Stops”Vince Neil/RATT/Slaughter
July 21 The Stylistics, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, The Delfonics “ 70’s Soul Jam”
August 22 Richard Jeni
A little butt rock, some good soul music, and a comedy show. Those should be very interesting.

Gin Blossoms??? They're back???
Also Seven Mary Three (great band, IMO) and Cracker.Let's hope for you they'll be confirmed.
Altenatively, Blue Oyster Cult. Just for the cowbell.
