Malkovich to be in Harry Potter 4?

IMDB is reporting John Malkovich will play Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Take it with a grain of salt since they never cast Americans in these films, plus it's IMDB.

Hollywood star John Malkovich has landed a starring role in the next Harry Potter movie, playing evil Lord Voldemort. The Dangerous Liaisons actor's daughters Amandine, 13 and Lowrie, 12 - huge fans of the fantasy franchise - convinced him to appear in Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire. But he will have to share the part with a computerized puppet - at the beginning of the film, the wizard is supposed to be so wasted by his own evil he is barely a skeleton. A movie insider says, "He is perfect for the role. He will play the 'restored' human version of Lord Voldemort and has a spectacular fight scene with Harry at the end of the film." Mike Newell has taken on directing duties on the fourth Potter picture, which recently began shooting. The first two were helmed by Chris Columbus and the third - the soon to be released Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban - was directed by Alfonso Cuaron.

Interesting. I love Malkovich and was pleasantly surprised by the Harry Potter movies. I was being snobbish and never watched them until they came on HBO, but I liked them. Malkovich will I'm sure make the best of the role if it actually happens.

They are all back for "Goblet of Fire", which is already filming, by the way. This one's directed by Mike Newell - the guy who helmed Donnie Brasco and Four Weddings & A Funeral.

In regards to Harry Potter 3; The look of this film has me very interested, something I could not say about the first two, which I thought were just okay.

Anybody know why they didnt ask Azkaban director (Cuaron?) back for Goblet?

yeah, advance word and those who have seen the work in progress print that screened a couple of months ago in Chicago say it is vastly suprerior in style and rhythm to Columbus' films.

And the great casting of the Potter series continues. I don't see how you can go wrong with Malkovich.

Malkovich would be great as Voldemort. Interesting to see if this is true as I remember hearing that Rowlings only wanted UK actors in the series.

WB denies the rumor.

At first I couldn't really imagine Malkovich as Voldemort because he simply didn't seem to look at all like Christian Coulson, but upon comparing their pictures, I think he looks like a much older demented version of him. I'm sure he could pull of the accent, and he plays insane characters really well, so if this news is true, then I am all for it.

I would be suprised if this is true ... my guess is that this is somebody's fantasy. It would almost make sense to cast an unknown for this part so that it would not be given away that Voldemort returns.

I'm all for it . . . JM would be great . . . or maybe Christopher Walken . . . they are about the only two actors in Hollywood who can freak me out.

I think the best person to play Voldemort would be Jeremy Irons.

He's kind of tall and thin. He also has an icy look and can project power and evil very will without really going over the top in the acting department.
Also, he is British.
