What's the Worst or Most Pretentious Tagline You've Ever Seen?

I recently saw for the first time a very good movie, The Killing Fields. One of the better ones of the eighties, no doubt. But in going through the extras, this tagline had me nearly fall out of my chair:

Every so often, there is a film that is destined to be talked about and remembered for years to come.

I mean, a good movie, no doubt. Important tale to be told in the world, no doubt. But that is the most pretentious tagline I think I've ever read. Revolting.

Can anyone top this?

Not really a tagline, but anything directed by John Carpenter. Who said he could just throw his name in front of every damn movie he makes? Pretentious bastard!

(Not really, but was always curious why he did that.)

I like to think of it more as a Godard reference.

However, the other tag line: "In the year 2003, Uma Thurman will Kill Bill" Liars!

I think in a recent thread someone brought up this one. The Highwaymen had a tagline like "When murder isn't a accident..." When is murder an accident?

the one for Jim Caviezel's next movie Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius is "his passion made him a legend". you may know he just played Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. in webads there's this big closeup of his face and it says "his passion" before faiding to another picture and the rest of the tagline... talk about subtlety, not.

I noticed that too on the imdb ad for it. Shameful.

Suspiria - "The Only Thing More Terrifying Than The Last 12 Minutes Of This Film Are The First 92."

I understand the intended meaning: "This entire movie is very scary." But it could also be taken to mean, "The end of this movie is a bit of a disappointment compared to the rest."

I've always found this to be a rather odd and awkward sounding tag line. Not exactly catchy either . Also, I'm a fan of the film, but wouldn't really call it "terrifying"

I myself liked it too, but it is VERY pretentious. But it was an interesting campaign nonetheless and helped make it a successful movie. But got call it like it is.

Jurassic Park: An Adventure 65 Million Years In The Making

Most of the posters here are quoting critics' quotes not actual taglines.

28 Days Later: Day 1: Exposure - Day 3: Infection - Day 8: Epidemic - Day 20: Evacuation - Day 28: Devastation

I have to say the most pretentious real tagline goes to Raiders of the Lost Ark:

The creators of JAWS and STAR WARS now bring you the ultimate hero in the ultimate adventure.
