A BOY and HIS DOG ....Good Blind Buy?

Haven't seen this considered sci-fi cult classic before. Good film to watch over and over? I know it was going for some bucks back in it's oop days. And i'ved heard the re-release is the exact with no improvements.

It's a very quirky offbeat film pretty much low on the technology end with few special effects.

It has some strange scenes that are genuinely creepy and I would say it is closer to the horror genre than sci-fi.

The ending is both bizarre and shocking and not predictable. Not a feel good film I would say (unless you are a fanatical dog lover!).

Worth a viewing if you like the apocalyptic sub-genre, but with a low repeat viewing value IMHO.

I would rent only.

Do you like low-budget, odd films? Social/cerebral sci-fi? If so, then yes.

This definitely isn't a film for everyone... but if you're curious enough to even ask the question, than I'd have to say you'd probably like it.

I enjoy it and have given it a spin every couple of years for a decade or two (on VHS, LD, and DVD). The commentary track is pretty darn good too... from back in the day when commentaries for this type of film were a pretty rare beast.

Good film, not much rewatchability, except on rare occasions.

It was ok. The video quality is absolutely horrible though, so that alone would prevent me from buying it. Might be worth a rental though. It's based on a short story by Harlan Ellison (I think, either him or some other old-school sci-fi writer) - you might want to just read the short story instead.

I'm a big Harlan Ellison fan and loved the story, but thought the movie was just okay. Pretty strange in places. I wouldn't say it had alot of re-watchability (if there is such a word.)

I caught this once on late-night tv (anyone remember "night-flight" on the USA network back in the late 80s/early 90s? maybe I was just young and new to the world, but I haven't seen such a good job of programming since it went off the "air") and have wanted a copy ever since.

The savant's review does a good job of describing it and if you haven't seen
Spoiler:
Prizzi's Honor
or just forgot the end of it, then the end should be a quirky little surprise.

i love ABAHD. sure its cheesy and the quality isn't the best due to the extremely low budget, but i still think its a great sci fi/social commentary/ classicaly weird film.

Yes! I loved Night-Flight. I was working nights at a cable station at the time and would watch the entire show every weekend. It had a great mix of music, comedy, and animation. I'd love to get some shows on DVD (but it was like 4 hours long, so that'll never happen.) I agree that it was one of the best programing blocks that I've ever seen.

I definately don't see this as highly rewatchable, though I thought it was an interesting movie. I think you should rent it, or better yet, read the Ellison story with the same title.
