Final Fantasy Chronicles & Crono Trigger
I enjoy playing my PS1 every now and then (I have the screen and take it to work and such) and I was just at my local EB trading in some games when I got more money back than I was expecting. So I finally picked up Chronicles Which has Final Fantasy IV and Crono Trigger for any one who didn't know that. What are your views on these two games and which one should I play first. Are they both really good or is one better than the other by a large margin. Thoughts Please.

From previous posts by you in this forum I don't think you'll get much enjoyment out of these games, but I could be wrong.. that being said, these are easily 2 of the best RPGs ever made. I'd suggest playing FFIV first, then going into Chrono Trigger. The games aren't related in any way, but it'd probably just make sense to play them in that order to show the growth of RPGs on the SNES as FFIV was a very early title, and CT was a very late title in the life of the SNES.

Those are known by many (me included) to be two of the best RPG's ever made. FFIV (FF2 when it was released in the US for SNES) is my favorite in the series to date. CT was great for it's mutiple paths and large amounts of endings. Personally, if you haven't played either I would go with FF first. I think overall it is a better game, but either is a great choice.

I can't imagine playing those games with load times. With no load times I actually don't mind wandering around and just killing guys for experience.

Heh.. with my recent flea market and Game Stop raids, I've got 3 (or is it 2?) copies of Chrono Trigger and 4 copies of Final Fantasy II for SNES.

The load times on these are HORRIBLE. It's like they didn't even try. It sucks because I've heard in CT, there are bonus you unlock for beating it including a monster gallery and a listing of all the ending, maps of rare items.. but I just couldn't do it. I tried.

I don't think that the load times are all that bad compared to other PS games. Sure they aren't as smooth as the karts, but what rom to cd ports are.

I didn't feel the loads were bad, but I hadn't played CT extensively on SNES to get used to no loading. FF4's load time seemed pretty minimal to me. Maybe they have this confused with Anthology?
I'd recommend this. Of course, these are my 2 favorite SNES RPGs and 2 of my favorite games (FFIV was my first RPG ever so there's obvious bias there).

The load times didn't factor in when I bought the game since I wanted it again, but I don't remember the load times being bad, and besides I won't have to think about the battery dieing. This is one of the best rpgs I've played.

I bought Chronicles when it first came out but I still haven't played it to this day. It's mostly because I simply haven't had time, but hopefully I can get to them sometime this year. I loved FFVI and one of my favorite RPGs is Lunar, so I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy these two games as well.
