for some reason when ever a tarantino movie comes on one of the priminium channels, i end up watching it and enjoying the hell out of it even though i watch the dvd alot as well.
i'll also do it for like friends repeats in syndication even though i own all 7 seasons.

Same here.

I'll even start watching a film on TV, get upset at the commercials and then just go get the DVD out and watch it.

For some reason I do this with all of my DVD's. I'm too lazy to take one out and pop it in the player, but if it's on TV I watch it.

That's usually what I end up doing too.

I do that sometimes. If it's a good movie I like and I see it on TV, I would start watching it even if there is commercial. I guess I'm just too lazy to get up and pop in the DVD, and would rather waste extra time watching commercials.

All the time.
But one time while A Few Good Men was on, I got annoyed at the commercials I just popped in the DVD.

Yeah its funny how a lot of people do this. When I see a movie on TV that I already own, I appreciate the DVD more (widescreen, 5.1 etc).

If my wife appears to be getting into watching a movie we own on television, I just get up and get the DVD.

I'm not going to sit through commercials when my DVD collection is 5 feet away.

It irritates me when my friends watch a movie I own on DVD instead of borrowing it. The only things I watch on TV that I own on DVD is Aqua Teen Hunger Force and an occasional X-Files episode. But, I normally don't buy TV shows unless I can't normally watch it (Mr. Bean).

I'll watch if it is in HD and no commercials.

My wife will watch anything, anytime, anywhere, and mutes the commercials. I have to get that lady a Tivo.

I do this all the time. There are certian movies I have to watch whenever I catch them, like Die Hard. I actually enjoy some movies more on TV because it's interesting to catch the TV edits, even the 10th time around.

NO!

If it comes on and I have the DVD, I'll pop the DVD into the player.
ex. FX was showing Die Hard 3 before The Shield. I got my DVD and put it on to the scene I happened to stumble upon on tv. Shawshank Redemption always seems to be in my DVD player since TNT makes a living out of it.

I do for Roswell when it is on scifi. I do for two reasons. I enjoy the heck out of the shows and whenever they show season 1 again I will be recording to tape so I have the tapes with the original music like it originally airred plus the DVD with the new songs added to it. I also plan to record season 2 and 3 to tapes as well ahead of time because I know when the DVDs for the final 2 seasons come out there might be a huge chance that most of the original songs won't be there.

I have Season 1 of Friends,Buffy,Angel,Dawsons Creek,24,Dark Angel,Married with Children,The Simpsons and King of The Hill

for those shows. The only episodes I watch are prob from Married with Children becuase there are a few I like from season 1 that when it airs on TV I want to watch it.

For shows like Roswell and Dawsons Creek that has severe altered music changes I find when it comes on, on TV again and tape it so I will have the original and the dvd with the new music.

I watch lots of stuff on tv that I've got on DVD. I guess primarily because I REALLY REALLY like TiVos 8 second back button. When I'm watching anything else (or even listening to the radio) I often mishear things or glance away or whatever and would really like that 8-sec back button to see/hear what I missed.

Funny you should bring this topic up - I'm sitting here with my laptop on the couch while watching The Negotiator on TBS and I own the DVD.

I think the fact that the remote is on the table 20 feet away might have something to do with that. (Although I do love this movie )

I do all the time, i was just watching Die Hard With A Vengeance earlier tonight, for the second time this week!

I guess by the time that i would actually get up and pop in the dvd, i am at a point in the movie that i just want to watch the rest of the way through, rather than starting over.

Yeah, I almost always watch Family Guy or Friends on TV during repeats. Since Family Guy always only has one ad break during the show, it really isn't too big a deal. Usually, though, when I see a movie on TV that I really want to watch I plop in the DVD. This has happened several times with TBS when they air The Shawshank Redemption, for example. I plop in the DVD and the movie is over before the TV version is.

my wife does this all the time and it drives me nuts. i tell her to just pull out the dvd so she doesnt have to worry about commercials. plus sound and pic would be much better...

...unless, of course, its on HD HBO.
