The scariest episode of X-files.
I think I don't have one because I'm just planning to buy all the seasons, but from what I have already seen on cable - ''Folie a deux'' from the fifth season.

Home is the most memorable for me. I saw it when I was 12 or 13. I remember it sticking with me the next morning when I was delivering newspapers in the dark.
Okay, so maybe I'm a puss. But still, it was some pretty scary stuff.

Another vote for "Home." That episode just freaked me out and I remember when FX would do the viewer's choice marathon's that was the only episode they wouldn't air before 10pm.

A Season 3 episode called Grotesque is IMO much darker and disturbing than Home. IIRC, there is not a single dose of humor in Grotesque, unlike Home. The entire episode was filmed in shades of black and blue.

I always thought that the guy in Tooms who can squeeze through anything to be a bit creepy.
Also, the episode Darkness Falls where Mulder and Scully both were cocooned and about to die to be a bit disturbing.

I don't recall the name of the episode, it's the one where people (creatures?) can blend into the forest camoflauged as trees and end up attacking people that want to threaten them or the forest.
Anyone recall this one and the season?

The episode with the "tree" creatures is called "Detour." It was always one of my favorites, although I saw it on SciFi the other day and it didn't quite have the same effect on me that it used to. I think it actually would qualify for one of the show's funniest episodes rather than the scariest....Scully singing Mulder to sleep absolutely kills me. The episode also has a decent guest star in Anthony Rapp.
As for the scariest episode? I don't think I could choose one, but I do remember a moment in "War of the Coprophages" that almost made me jump out of my skin...I was watching the episode (which has to do with killer cockroaches) on a very small TV in a pitch black room at about 3:00 a.m., and during a conversational scene between Mulder and a doctor named Bambi, a giant bug crawled across the screen. Initially, I freaked out, but after a bit I realized that it was probably a gag and not a real cockroach, so I rewound the tape, and sure enough...the bug crawled across the screen again. I'll never forget that...

I'm not someone who gets scared by movies or television shows and disturbing may be a better adjective for Home, but it really did scare me. The music had a lot to do with it. Great episode.

What about the Cops/X-files crossover with werewolf in South Central. It seemed pretty realistic.

Oh man, I remember that one. So lame, but at the same time, very amusing.
