New Prince Album -- "Musicology" -- Thoughts? Opinions?

Prince releases his 24th studio album on Columbia Records tomorrow.

Besides being offered at this online music club, NPG Music Club [along with 2 other albums made up of previously released through the club music], he's also giving it away for free to concertgoers on his current tour. [Which should make it interesting to see how much it'll sell...]

1. Musicology
2. Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance
3. A Million Days
4. Life 'O' the Party
5. Call My Name
6. Cinnamon Girl
7. What Do U Want Me 2 Do?
8. the Marrying Kind
9. If Eye Was the Man in Ur Life
10. On the Couch
11. Dear Mr. Man
12. Reflection

got it at target for 11.98

only heard about 30 seconds of each song, but so far im enjoying it. i think i like the slow songs more than the up beat ones.

Prince still seems to be in his jazz phase though. Don't expect DIRTY MIND(Which i bought yesterday and LOVE) funk on this

Dirty Mind rocks.

When I first got this after the satellite broadcast of his Staples Center show, I didn't care much for it. The more I listen to it, , the more I think that there are some good songs on here. Not great, but good.

I still can't listen to Life 'O' the Party. Ugh. It reminds me of some other songs of his that I loathe - Push It Up & Freaks On This Side from his NewPowerSoul album. Ugh˛.

As for your question InnocentBlood....at least one of the songs from the site were released in stores [You Make My Sunshine]. There were some others that were sold as CD Singles at some of his shows, but those are hard to come by.

As for the chance of them being released in stores...slim and none?

the packaging sucks. it could be nice, but there is nothing to hold anything down. if it had a nice strip of velcro down the side it would have been perfect

i totally feel you. this booklet is definately going to get lost. what a shame. but the album itself is pretty good. it reminds me a lot of the rainbow children mixed with some of his older funk. on the couch is an awesome song.

and about the cd being given away at his concerts, i got tickets to the show at the arrowhead pond and i still bought it today because i cant wait. guess ill just sell it come showtime.

I like it, but I think new fans won't care for it. It certainly doesn't bowl me over the way PARADE and THE GOLD EXPERIENCE did when I first bought them.
