I was looking at that best buy ad for this week and noticed Wild Things 2...I can't believe there's even a sequel let alone make someone pay more than $5.50 for it.

When I first saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show as apart of VH1's 20th Anniversary of the film in 1995, one of the people they interviewed who were at the "celebration" dressed up like one of the characters from Shock Treatment. From that on, I knew I had to find a copy of the film.

I never found a copy of the film until 1998 when I saw a copy at Suncoast on VHS, and of course I bought it.

Then I bought the soundtrack weeks later at Virgin Megastore.

I remember the ads for this movie. It was released to theaters.

I never knew there were two Ralphie Parker movies made in the 1970s and 80s (Made for TV movies) until I looked on the IMDB (I knew there were two movies made after A Christmas Story).

From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman's Daughter wasn't too good, although compared to the second one, it was a virtual masterpiece. I'll never really understand the appeal of making endless sequels to mediocre movies that no one saw (i.e. The Substitute, From Dusk til Dawn, The Skulls, Turbulence, etc...)

I'm not saying all those movies listed above suck, but they take the brand name, change all (or virtually all) of the people and put out a direct to video movie. Why? Will that really sell more than the average non-brand name movie?

That reminds me of when I worked at a BBV about 8 years ago. I was new and someone asked me to point out Children of the Corn IV. I very condescendingly told that person there was no such movie, there was only one sequel to Children of the Corn and sent them on their way! :) Not realizing the whole straight-to-video sequel market that's all the rage. I remember stocking movies like Witchcraft VII and wondering when did Witchcraft I come out on the big screen?

What about Inspector Gadget II? Horrible sequel to tepid big screen release, my kid loves it.

Just like someone posted above, I too will never really understand all these sequels to movies no one saw in the first place.

I know sequels are big business in the mainstream Hollywood market, but those movies (Spiderman 2 and Zorro 2) are sequels to films that were actually hugely popular and made money.

What exactly is the rationale behind making various sequels to movies like "The Skulls" and "Bring It On" ? So maybe "The Skulls" made it's budget plus a small profit, but so does virtually every film out there eventually. Why would producers sit there and say, gee "I wanna spend 15 million on a sequel to a movie nobody liked in the first place." You mine as well be throwing the money away, because the only chance it has at being rented is if its the last thing on the shelf on a Friday night at Blockbuster. Maybe television rights? I don't know.

to the best of my knowledge, the distribution company makes their money by selling the dvd/vhs to the video store, not on rentals. i'm sure some of the budget is secured providing a home video distribution deal is already in place.

I like the music better (I love Rocky Horror's soundtrack, but Shock Treatment outdoes it), but I still think the film is way ahead of it's time. If the film didn't get it's budget cut due to the impending SAG strike at the time, the film could've been pulled off in spades.

Now why do I believe the film is ahead of it's time? Look at the film and it's parodying of television by showing Brad and Janet's problems in front of a live studio audience (basically the entire town of Denton) with manipulation from the people "involved" with the show that they're on.

Now look at reality television today.

Richard O'Brien is one smart ****er. :)

Yeah, while I enjoy 100 Women, the film is really not a sequel to 100 Girls. Sure it contains the same exact crew that 100 Girls had and the same exact storyline, but so did Michael Davis' first teen-sex comedy Eight Days a Week. Hell, it's a ****in' trilogy right there of guys wanting to get the girl of their dreams. :)

100 Girls had heart and didn't rely on gross-out humor (but the dialog was quite explicit).

100 Women lacks heart and goes out to include gross-out humor (yet the dialog is nowhere near as explicit).

I love 100 Girls, moderatly like 100 Women, but 100 Women contains a brilliant exchange of dialog in one scene.

"It's a finger puzzle. The more I try and pull to get out, the more stuck I become."
"Yeah, the same thing happened to me before. Just that it wasn't with a finger puzzle and was with an Asian chick."

Maybe the idea is good, but the outcome is ****. Even with the killer soundtrack, it's hard to watch. Although with scenes like Shock Treatment (A way better version of this song is on the soundtrack), the good night song, and Thank God I'm a Man...it could have been really good.

Not even close. And they only had 2 (extremely pathetic) "commercials in the film as well, with a different narrator. It is only 1:20, which adds to the low production sci-fi channel tv show feel, in fact I would not be surprised to see this airing 5 times a day on Sci-Fi chalnnel very soon.
