the FACTUAL NON r1 Kill Bill DVD thread...
Since this DVD was announced overseas, i've lost count of the numerous Kill Bill threads asking basically the same thing. SInce it wasn't out and no one could provide definitive information, I skipped the majority of them. However, the day is shortly upon us where speculation will turn into fact. I started this thread for that reason.
This is a thread for facts.
Not for shipping announcements. Not for speculation.
So, could those of us who finally get the DVD please post the specs? As it stands now, Kumar J looks to be the first DVD Talker to get his hands on it. He has already stated he'll snap a photo [and hopefully post some specs too].
And hopefully you can answer these repeated questions:

And hopefully you can answer these repeated questions:
- What was the running time?
- Was the fight scene at the House Of Blue Leaves in colour?
- Was O-Ren's anime sequence longer?
- Were the subtitles removable? Or was it only "All or Nothing"?
- Where did you order it from?

Cool, thanks for the nice pic, Kumar. Too bad you can't open it yet though. It would kill me to have it in my hands, but not get to check it out until later.
Just the extra arm slicing, that's it. Everything else was the same.
Additional question - was the interrogation/consolation of Sofie Fatale longer?

I have spent yonks looking all over the web for someone who has watched the film just to find out if its uncut with the House Of Blue Leaves in colour.
So far no luck. It would seem no one in the world has watched it yet.

Update. Just found this. Hope its not bull.
Kill Bill Vol.1 was released here in Japan today; a day early of schedule.
I went out on my lunch hour to buy it, I just couldn't resist!!
And yes, it's completely in glorious color!

Umm... I wouldn't really know, as I never saw the US version!
But, as far as I have understood; the big "House of Blue Leaves" battle is in color AND uncut + the last scenes with Sofia Fatale and the Bride are completely uncut.
Apart from those two scenes, I'm unsure of the differences between the Japanese and International versions - anyone know more specifically

Facts:
The House of Blue Leaves is fully in color.
The English subtitles are NOT present whenever there is Japanese dialogue, unless you manually add them using your remote control.
The audio video quality is outstanding, and if you can support DTS, the DTS track rocks!

Personally, I don't mind manually hiting the subtitle button when I know that there is Japanese dialogue coming.
There is enough Japanese, that it's nice to have the English subtitles, but not enough that you would want to leave them up throughout the whole movie, unless that wouldn't bother you.

the runtime for vol 1 region 1 is 111 for the box. so i am guessing the additional 30 some seconds is because of the anime.
oh and for the region 1 version, i figured out that you can turn the subs off for the japanese dialogue, so if you know it by heart, you don't have to worry about it. (and about the last hour is in japanese, with a few parts in english.)
