Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash AND Evil Dead: The Musical Tidbit

Hey all, just thought I'd throw an interesting piece of news your way. I work with Rober Tapert's sister, and got a chance to ask him a few questions regarding my favorite actor, Bruce Campbell. Even though he came around to my area last month for a Q&A and a screening of Bubba Ho-Tep, he wouldn't answer any questions regarding Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash (I assume for legal resons). Well, what Robert told me was that they (New Line, Dino De Laurentis' company and BC) are definetly in talks for the movie to be made. BC is kind of gung-ho on Ash beating the crap out of Freddy and Jason, so it's kind of making the deal tough to work out. I know that isn't real big news or nothing terribly new, but just wanted to let everyone know about it (as opposed to speculation from other 'sources').

The other thing that caught me off guard is that Dino De Laurentis' company is trying to make a broadway/musical version of Evil Dead. I couldn't believe that when Robert told me. That would be fu**ing awesome to see.

I would hate the idea of tossing ASH into the mix. I would much rather see an Evil Dead 4 (not going to happen till at the very least sam finishes up his spidey run)

I'd rather have Ash in F VS J. The Evil Dead series is over and has a great ending, no need to bring it back.

Yeah, but tossing him in that franchise seems like beating a dead horse.

I personally cant wait for Predator vs Alien vs Raptor vs Terminator vs Jason vs Bride of chucky vs Freddy vs Ash vs agent cody banks.

I think that would be stretching things, though I did enjoy FvJ. I'm just not sure how Ash would fit since he has nothing to do with Elm St nor Crystal Lake and isn't teenager.

Evil Dead 4 would be preferable... if they had a good idea to run with and all that...

Another vote for Evil Dead 4 instead. They have to continue the story, they can't leave poor Ash stranded in the distant future. (the real ending of Army of Darkness, as far as I'm concerned)

Although I didn't particularly care for F vs J, I'd be up for introducing Ash into the series. I'd like me some more Bruce Campbell and I'm sure he'd be stellar, even if the rest was awful, which I doubt. I don't think he'd do it without Raimi having some say about it, and if Raimi is involved, then I'd have real hope.

With that said, I'd much rather see an Evil Dead 4. I prefer the theatrical ending, if they are going for a 4th movie, but the future one is a good way to end the series, even if it's a little lame.

I don't see how they could work Ash into a FvJ movie ... one man versus two immortals?

Hmm, I dunno. I guess I'd rather see Ash in this than never again. Sure, Evil Dead 4 would be great. If anything, AvFvJ could help make ED4 happen. I think it could work if the movie wasn't considered an 'official' part of any of the series' canon. The Ash character in a standalone adventure, with his personality and ass-kickedness, in an 'alternate universe' type of thing. Sort of like the old 'What If?' Marvel comics. The movie couldn't really be scary... you would have the bring in the more comical Freddy from ANOES 3 & 4. Freddy and Ash exchanging wisecracks could be entertaining. Jason would just be his badass self. I'm not saying it WOULD work, as there is a lot of room for screwing up here, but it COULD be work, at least on its own level.
