The Classic which verison?
I had the Edko 2-disc DTS version in my wish list for the past 2 weeks at Yesasia. When I went to place my order it said that this version in not available now in North America. There is another 2-disc version available from Bear Entertainment (?)
Does anyone know if this version is good?
Thanks for any help.

I have the R3K Bear 2-disc DVD. Here are the specs from the DVD: 2.35 anamorphic WS, 5.1 DTS or DD. As for the packaging itself, Korean companies put the extra effort in making such quality packages DVDs. The DVD has a sturdy slipcover and 5 photo cards from various scenes from the movie.
I'm not really an audio/visual nut, but I was more that impressed with the picture and sound quality of the DVD. As far as I remember, I don't think there were any major subtitling problems, maybe a few typos, but nothing too bad where it will detract from the film. I didn't really check out the special features on the second disc, but I assume that the features are not subtitled.
I don't think you could go wrong in purchasing this version. I used to buy the HK version of Korean movies, but lately, I have been spending the extra $10 in order to get the Korean manufactured DVDs.

I have the OOP R3K Wooden Box Edition (4 disc set, limited to 5000 copies) and the only thing I can say is wow.
I also have the corrected discs (disc 1 and 2 of the LE and the regular editions were recalled due to some framing and color issues), therefore making it a 6 disc set...

From the front cover, it looks like all of them are R3 HK versions; however the R3 HK version is not Region Free. AFAIK, the seller could have obtained those from Mainland China.
Here is the cover of the R3HK release

There are actually much less than 5000 copies out there of the Wooden Box Set LE, as it was recalled.
The director wasn't happy with the transfer; The explanation I was given was that while he had added a bit of pink to the scenes set in the past to seperate them from the ones in the present, the color was just a tad more than he wanted.
Luckily I got mine on preorder, as in the middle of the picture:

WOW!!! The Hero boxset, the Escaflowne boxset, and so many others, Njål, you're making me even more jealous. Hmmm, I've always wanted to visit Norway...
Also, what is that Cowboy Bebop set you have, the one with the book, two DVDs, and the film neg. ?

That's the S. Korean set, I believe still readily available.
And *hrm* click the 'My Little Ghiblies', either here or on my homepage (very off-topic, and referenced in the cool non-R1 box sets/packaging-thread).
Edit: There's's only one dvd in the CB: The Movie set.

One of them is the Chihwaseon Limited Wooden Box Set...
The box for Chihwasen is a little darker in texture than the Classic box, but not as deep.
Here is some comparison of the two wooder boxes:

Left is the Chihwaseon Box. Right is the Classic Box
