The Mickey Rourke Appreciation thread!!

The man in all his glory before he started looking like a plastic inflated version of himself

He still remains one of my favorite actors.

-Year of the Dragon: "There's a new Sheriff in town....Me" . He totally owned that picture.

-Angel Heart: Every scene with Rourke and De Niro is a joy to watch.

-Barfly: As a fan of Charles Bukowski I think he really did the character justice.

And now he's the voice of "Jericho" in the videogame "DRIV3R"...

Your thoughts?

Along with Val Kilmer, he proves that complete lunatics make for some of the best, fun to watch, actors.

Mickey was great as ' The Cook ' in Spun. I saw his name in the credits for the new Denzel Washington movie.

I never really liked him, but I think Angel Heart was his best.

Agreed - and I'd throw in both Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken into the mix.

Back to Rourke though...I'll admit that I actually liked Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man.

Do not forget his brief but very powerful scene in Sean Penn's The Pledge. I was surprised by how effective he was here.

I think he was great in Bullet - only thing I could stand Tube Sok Shakir in, Desperate Hours - a great under appreciated remake, White Sands, and the one no one has mentioned, The Pope of Greenwich Village, along with those already mentioned.

Spun was pretty good - his role as "The Cook" was without a doubt one of his best.

Gary Oldman is a much better Mickey Rourke than Mickey Rourke is.
