this site needs a dtv/hdtv for dummies.

I have questions that I havent seen answered like what If I dont have a cable box or dish or anything like that, should I then get a HDTV with built in tuner?

And Id like to see the differance between the differant formats, HDTV,DTV,DLP,LCD ect.

Try the FAQ at the top

If it is not there then ask a more detailed question and someone will respond.

Good luck!

generally i would advise against getting a set with an integrated HDTV tuner. but as you won't be using a dish or a cable box it might not be a terrible idea. what HDTV source(s) will you be using.

I have a question along these lines so I will know down the road. I have a HDTV with a tuner built-in & regular DIRECTV, so if I want DIRECTV HD programming all I need is the TRIPLE LNB right?

You will need the oval dish with the triple LNB. I am not sure how your tuner will deal with Direct TV and their HD feeds. I use a Sony HD200 for my direct tv tuner and ota tuner.

Thanks for the info. I have an ota antenna that I've used for local TV which got me wanting to upgrade my DIRECTV.

You will not be able to receive DirectTV via your built-in tuner - only over-the-air. To get DirectTV HD programming, you need an external DirectTV HD tuner.
