Worth buying and how does it compare??

Alright, a guy who works at my local video store told me that the new TCM was more than worth buying because it was better than original - I'm a huge fan of the original (one of my all time fav. horror movies) and I find it really hard to believe that anything with Michael Bays name on it (or Jerry B. - they're both horrible) can be anything above bad.

With that said, I didn't bother going to see it at the theater and I thought to myself, why, oh why out of all the people in the industry, why did they hand this over to coyote ugly?

So you tell me - with no dinner scene and I'm already guessing not even half the terror, how does it compare to the original?

i liked it (in the commentary, there is no dinner scene because it would have been too confusing to explain everything). there is a lot more blood and guts in this one. (my mother thought the "hitchhiker scene" was horrifing) on a scaryness factor between 1-10 and 10 being horrifing, I'd give it an 8, the original scared the crap out of me.

The remake can't hold a candle to the original. It adds nothing, and takes so much away. I say avoid it.

Thanks - I'm glad you were fair with the original and I'm surprised to hear there is more blood and guts in the new one.

oh, one death was more left to the imagination (f the mpaa!) and you have to buy the 29.99 2 disc version to see the deleted scenes.

Screw this!!! We're only four posts in and you both admitted the original was better.

Thanks for your honesty...........you just saved me 30 bucks.

actually, at least rent it. the remake isn't that bad. sure it wasn't the greatest horror movie ever made or anything like that. but if you want a few good scares and don't mind some blood and guts, go for it. and while im at it, there are some good shots of jessica biel in that tanktop, don't listen to Noel gross, while it might not have been as gratuitus as many would have liked, there are still a few good shots in there

I'll more than likely end up renting it to judge for myself but I hate when expectations are low before watching a movie.

Yeah - I love the old horror film hottie move :-)

That is what Netflix is for. Just received it today. Will watch it tomorrow and turn it around Monday. Almost a free rental.

The original would be one of my top 10-20 favorites, but not the new one. But I did still enjoy the new version.

Well, I saw it over the weekend - this movie didn't even meet my lowest of low expectations (and that's pretty bad) - but do you know what's even worse? They're already talking about doing a prequel.

This stupid remake should have never been made.
