What is the same of the game copy software.....

That was recently halted by some court? I read about it in GamePro, or PC gamer, or some other crap. Basically it allowed you to put the whole game on your computer without the need to put in the disc every time (which would be super cool). It also allowed for making backups of the games.

I know it was a legit company and legit software, but I think the court put a hault to it until it heard the case. Anyone know?

There are plenty of places to get a "no disc" crack for PC games. I won't post them here because of the obvious reasons.

I use CloneCD to get the images, then use Daemon Tools to mount them as a virtual drive. I don't pirate anything, but I love not having to change discs.

I just set up a script that dismounts the previous image, mounts the new image, then runs the appropriate executable. I changed the shortcut in the start menu to point to that script and changed the icon to match the executable. All I still have to do to start a game, even if the disc isn't mounted, is choose the item from the start menu.

I use Pinnacle Instant Copy 8, it works great. Farstone's Gamecopy worked pretty well, but it only worked with about 50% of my discs. I'd be interested to hear if anyone has experience with GameXcopy by 321 studios.

And it's faster and quieter, too, especially with, say, point-and-click adventure games where dialog is being streamed from the CD (and usually those old games have no option for full install and are hardcoded to read the data from the CD).

There's one I'm playing right now where it has to spin up the CD every time to get a 2-second piece of dialog while the game stalls for a second. It's irritating. So I do the virtual drive thing.
