Jack Blacks Kong is bigger than yours
Bizarre casting. PJ has picked Black as the lead male actor, no not Kong, but Carl Denham. He will star alongside Naomi Watts, here is the article;
Some of the strangest casting news ever has just come down the pike: Jack Black will be starring in Peter Jackson's King Kong.
He'll be playing Carl Denham, a role originated in 1933 by Robert Armstrong. He leads the expedition to Skull Island to make a film, and there he discovers a giant ape who seems to ask "Where the white women at?" (Hey, you don't have to agree with me that there's a racial subtext to the film - consciously inserted or not - but plenty of folks have seen it)
"I've been wanting to work with Jack Black ever since I saw him in High Fidelity," said director Peter Jackson. "He's a smart and versatile actor blessed with an abundance of energy and charm and I'm absolutely thrilled that he is joining us on Kong."
Jack Black has played more serious roles in the past, but it has been five years since his appearance in Jesus' Son. Since then he's been doing various levels of buffoonery. What can we expect from Black in this role? Who knows, but it's certainly fascinating casting, and assuming that Jackson isn't going camp with his version of Kong (and I think we can assume he isn't, as the original is his favorite film), he sees something in Jack Black beyond the hyperactive fat party guy.
I really like Jaybles, but this seems an odd choice none the less.
Must trust in Peter Jackson.
