LMT's terms at checkout have been corrected.. SORTVE. Updated opening post
don't forget LMR, LMW, and LMY. They all show up with the same info as LMT.

Signed up today on the web with LMY. Terms were still incorrect. Didn't ask for credit card number. Confirmation email omitted the 7th DVD I picked. Anyone recieve their enrollment package yet using this code?

When I used LMT the other day, my confirmation e-mail also left off the 7th DVD, but it showed up in my account records on the website after I recieved my membership #. I havn't recieved my enrollments yet, but my order status has changed from "not yet shipped" to "order has already shipped" today.

Very interesting, I haven't gotten any e-mails like a few people here have said, so I have no real idea whats going on, it has been a decent period of time now, even though I enrolled via phone (with LMT) I think things may not have been approved. Not had any trouble before.

Were you asked for a credit card number when you signed up online?I'll jump in here to say that when I used "LMT" over the Web, I was not asked for credit card info but my CH "PSN" was asked for. I have recieved a "we are looking over you app" email but nothing else so far.

Edit- some other previous info I have deleted per good advice from duganrm. Thanks.

(refeissn - regarding Mystic River #disc and Fast Times/Dazed Party Combo in enrollment)I am surprised you were approved - though I have never tried it, some here have told me apps will be rejected if you try to get selections which are not generally available.

I wonder if those titles are available as phone-only enrollments?

Well, I was approved and recieved my enrollments minus Mystic River and the Party Combo. Recieved Rainchecks instead.

What is the best way to use rainchecks? Can they be used over the web or phone? What is the price limit?

thanks

just got a new mailing....even though i am still a member. strange.
anyway, 5 for .49 each + free shipping + buy 4 in 2 years and can take 6th for 9.95 and then only buy 3 more and buy an 8th for 9.95 but it doesnt seem like it will count.
not a great offer but got the mailing. if anyone wants the code email me :)

...What is the best way to use rainchecks? Can they be used over the web or phone? What is the price limit?

thanks The best way is to call them in. By the time you do so, the titles you ordered may already be back in stock. But have some backup selections ready in case they are not.

The CSR will see that you have rainchecks on your account and the DVDs you request will be sent to you free. They must be titles that are available for enrollment (but you can wait awhile if something you want is about to become available for enrollment in the next few weeks).

Well, I just got my acceptance 5 minutes ago for my first LMT order.. Damn :)

First 7 = 13.61

2 to commit plus 1 at sale price to get free shipping
Subtract $5 webdvd order = 53.97

Total = 67.52 for 10 DVD's ... $6.75 average. Simply... WOW This averge could be even lower if $19.95 titles are ordered for commitment. I have no choice but to order newer $21.95 selections ;)

from one italian to another...I ask.....

what if... you didn't take the 7th selection..
and had three to buy? considering the 3 would be new releases + free shipping + -$5 webdvd....
wouldn't this more attractive $$ if little more than your $6.75 per enrollment?

ITALIAN926
02-20-05, 07:35 PM
That would be 3 for regular price... sooo

here would have been the same selections I bought YOUR way.

Six .49 cents each +tax = $3.12

Three to commit = $21.95 + 21.95 + 21.95 MINUS $5 webdvd PLUS tax = $64.50

Total is 9 DVD's for $67.62 = $7.51 Average.. Good, but not as good.

People should be accustomed to getting the FIRST bonus selection because free shipping for three isnt always available...in which case , you would only order those two fulfillments at regular price.

I'll be using a SIX % sales tax just as an example.

Lowest average strategy for LMT

First seven ( 6 for .49 plus 1 for $9.95 free S/H + tax) = 13.61

Two for commitment ( $19.95 x 2 plus one more to get free shipping ) 3rd dvd on sale from $ 10 and under section $7.95 MINUS $5 webdvd + tax = $45.42

10 DVD's for $59 = $5.90 average price. :)

Gotta love this new code

I just hope that it is still around when the next 3for$25 sale comes around. If there is free shipping at that time, it works out like this (before tax):

6 for .49 + 1 for 9.95 free s/h = 12.49
6 for 50.00 free s/h - 5.00 web discount = 45.00
Total 57.49/13 = 4.42 per DVD before sales tax

Gawd, I hope nobody for CH is reading this!

Scott - I hope the planets do again align like that some day; however I fear that 3-for-25, as we knew it, is gone. It took CH a number of months, but I think they all finally decided that 3-for-25 as a commitment just was too good to continue in parallel with the new LMx codes. I was fortunate enough to get one LMT-type account with free shipping with 6-for-50 fulfillment, but they were really pushing back on the fulfillment credit on the set with the $5 off web discount.

That is correct. You get 6 as part of the deal and you can order an 7th for $9.95 which counts towards your 3 fullfilments. So then you are left with 2.

I used "LMT" over the web recently and the deal I got was 6 DVD's for 49 cents and the 7th selection for 9.95 which counted as a fullfillment which leaves me only 2 commitments. I declined to add an 8th DVD to my enrollment order since it did not count towards fullfillment.

Maybe to screw with CHs' "mind" - especially if any of those phony nos. are real & CH decides to cross-reference them. Maybe that's why some people are having to "answer a few questions" before their apps are sent thru & approved???

Nothing says you can't re-use a PSN. I've used some PSNs more than once(even tho I had PLENTY to spare). The web site might block you for a time period, but after a while (months?) you should be able to re-use it.

If you're calling in, just say you don't have it in front of you at the moment -like a lot of us have - and they should still take the app with no problem.

If you are talking about on the TV Club, the code will never be approved. It is just a glitch in their system that it allows you to order with that code.

If you are talking about the DVD club, it should work fine and has been approved for many people.

So nobody has been approved in the tv set club with this code? What is a good code to use with the tv club? HDL and H6J still work some of the time, last I heard. There are many other codes one can use for the TV edition club (just play some keyboard roulette). To access the TV club, use the links in the first post of the DVD Club: TV Edition Introduction and Discussion Thread (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=367791).

If you want to call in an order you will probably get the standard deal (they don't accept the best codes on the phone, at last report): 2 sets for $9.95, buy four DVDs of $19.95 or greater to fulfill. Even this is a decent deal. The selection of enrollment sets is larger on the phone but we don't have a list so you just need to try some and see what they accept. When calling in a TV sets order be sure to ask for the "DVD club, TV Edition". You don't want the regular DVD club.

Wow, if you can find these 2-or-more disc sets for an average of $5.20 in mint condition, let me know where you live - I want to move there! (These are all ones I have bought over the last year from Columbia House, and my average price after fulfillment was $5.20).

BUt then they NEVER send me that second email nor the DVD's. Is my PSN number black listed or something? Please help. Your experience is the same as many others. Why these applications get "lost" is a mystery. Sometimes they will send a letter saying that you have been turned down but usually they will not. It may have something to do with the number of accounts you have had or the time between them, but that is just a guess.

If you are really "blacklisted" you should get a letter saying that Columbia House has made a "business decision" to close your accounts. Whether refusing new accounts is a form of blacklisting is unclear since many have been able to open accounts over the phone after having numerous web applications lost.

This is why most of us suggest trying a phone order. Those usually have a higher sucess rate than web orders.

Everytime I use my PSN (past 4 times) to take advantage of these great deals CH always sends me an email saying congrats, we will email you again after we verify your order status, which can take up to 7 days.

BUt then they NEVER send me that second email nor the DVD's. Is my PSN number black listed or something? Please help.

Call them on the phone. That is your best bet. I have had so many web applications go into the great abyss. But when I call them on the phone, the order always gets approved.

There are some quirks with their website. That is basically an understatement. From what I understand you have to enter your information on the website then a CH employee has to transfer that info into their system. There may be problems on that end. For sure you are not the only one this is happening to.

As I said above, call them on the phone. That takes care of any website issues immediately.

Tim :-)

Ive randomly made up PSN's in the past.. its worked like 5 times for me w/ no problems.

The one time I did not have my PSN available when I called on the phone, the CH representative said it was no problem. The application was approved.

I got an offer in the mail today, a code I didn't see in the 1st post.

It is M1XD,and is of this variety:

Quote:
You get 5 DVDs for 49¢ each-- shipping and processing is FREE!
As a Club member, all you need to do is buy 3 more movies in the next 2 years at regular Club prices (currently as low as $19.95 plus shipping and processing). You may cancel anytime thereafter.

ADVANCE BONUS OFFER!

Take a 6th movie now for $14.95 (FREE shipping and processing)and have only 2 more movies to buy (instead of 3) in the next 2 years. Plus, you can even take a 7th movie for the special price of $9.95--shipping and processing is once again FREE.

Got approval in 2 days time with code 'LMT'. Been a while since I've had an account but I had enough DVDs on my wishlist saved up to get back in the game. 'LMT' looks like a fantastic code. 9 total DVDs for less than $6 a DVD. Many thanks to whoever posted this code first (last time I joined the best codes were in the mid $7 range). I see that the CH website is as flaky as I remember it. My confirmation email only listed 6 DVDs and the terms/agreement (the one you have to click on near the end of your order) page when I ordered listed needing 3 more commitments even though I got the $9.95 bonus dvd -- but I just logged into my account and it shows all 7 from my enrollment order and only 2 more commitments necessary so all's well that ends well.

Time to order my two commitments and close the sucker out. God bless CH :-)

Just logged into CH and picked 6 titles which are normally $14.95 or less, and the 3 for $25 deal did not kick in like it normally does. Instead of $50 for 6, it was $87.70. WTF? I figured if it ended it would be mentioned here, but do not see it.

Ok. so what is the best average price one can expect in the TV club?? And are there code for that? Saw the note about the site accepting LMT as a glitch and remember trying that myself a while back, but never getting those dvds, so that explains that. But ARE there any TV codes?

Member BUB from another thread added 38Y to our (LMT LMY) list. According to old rules, this code MIGHT give a credit card option at checkout. It doesnt seem like there is one to me.. but I need definite confirmation when someone uses it. Next person to use 38Y, please post.

The two recent join-the-club mailings I've received are:

MFPD -- this is a 5 for .49 cents, free shipping, buy another at $9.95 and only have to buy 2 to fulfill type of code

and

38YD -- which I see above and after doing a quick search has already been posted. I'll probably be opening a new account shortly and will use 38YD. Someone will probably beat me to it but if not I will be sure to post my experience using the code...

1. You'll want to pay full price for Paycheck so that it counts for fulfillment. And you got a $10 coupon, too. Nice.

2. If there were a free shipping code known to us, it would've been posted,

3. Although it isn't clear, this thread is geared towards enrollment codes. There is a separate thread for codes for established acccounts.

If you're enrolling over the phone, try telling the CSR that you don't have the PSN handy (say you just wrote down the bonus code, but can't find the mailing). This usually works.

If worse comes to worse, just apply with the regular terms (no bonus code). Even though it's not nearly as good a deal, once you finish your first account, you'll have a PSN to use on dozens of future accounts.

Most people here get 5 and purchase 2.... Is this a new thing? Please help.... I'm trying to figure out if this is worth the hassle. Thanks.

Most people here get 5 and purchase 2.... Is this a new thing? Please help.... I'm trying to figure out if this is worth the hassle. Thanks. It sounds as if they are quoting you the standard deal. You need to ask to use a better "savings code" when you enroll. A good one is LMTD, discussed earlier in this thread (6 for 49¢, one additional for $9.95, all with free shipping, then two more fulfillments to complete the account). How this would work when ordering by e-mail, I couldn't say (never give a credit card number by e-mail, by the way). You could try explaining the terms of the savings code you want to use and see what they say.

You might be better off phoning in the order but I am not sure which number you would call from overseas, I can't find their non-800 number, although I know they have one.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

APO ADDRESS DILEMMA SOLVED!!!!

I am fortunate enough to have a diplomatic pouch address option ( it only comes in maybe once a month tho...) I used that address with the P7G code and it worked. I tried calling the number emerald gave me, but it was busy the entire time.... So I went online and used the code. My plan is to change my address after a few weeks to the APO that way I will get my mailings in a timely manner. Hopefully that will work. The APO/FPO plan CH offers is not a deal at all. This worked just fine though.

QUESTION--I signed my husband up for the "refer friends and get 2 dvds" offer.... Does anyone know if I can get away with his name and email but the same address?

A BIG thank you for Emerald9999, Lizard, and D-Ball--I couldn't have done this without your help.

You can have 2 DVD accounts on same address (as my and my wife has). There is no need to refer as the deal is not worth the money. Instead join as regular using one of the better code. I think you will need to pay shipping on 2 free dvds so its not even free. Plus other person will have 5 commitments. (that is almost twice than with code meaning if two quit and rejoin again using codes you get 10-12 free dvds instead of 2+5)

No !! Dont do that, youll be signing up your friend.. or husband to a standard deal with 5 commitments. You cannot use a code for the reffered deal. Instead just sign up brand new usuing the best codes.

By the way, why did you care to donate an extra $5 to CH by using P7G ?

Okay, I will just sign him up seperately using P7G unless someone knows of another code.. THANK YOU Italian and zaq12wsx, I'm learning so much from all of you!

I honestly didn't know I was spending more...I used P7G because 38D, 38Y, 38YD and LMT all asked for PSN numbers which I don't have. I tried to wing a number once, but nothing ever came of it except an email saying APO users have another deal--which is really horrible (5+5 commitments)--Hopefully now that I'm lucky enough finally to have a decent account I can get even better deals in the future... We're kinda stuck with things like this over here, this code worked and I took it! Now I will be only 6-8 months behind in movies instead of 12-18 months!!!!! Unfortunately Israel doesn't have a black market for movies like Nepal and Thailand did!; Bummer.

You have a great forum here with great members. Once you have the first account number from the P7G account you ought to be able to use it as a PSN for your next account using the best codes.

That P7G D-Ball found and you used is the best non-PSN code we have seen, by a wide margin, which is why ITALIAN926 is so pleased. We get so used to good codes requiring a PSN that we often don't check them to make sure.

I trust that you are able to play Region 1 DVDs overseas or you wouldn't be buying them. How does that work? Do you just use standard US equipment adapted to the local power source? A region free player?

shaeandbull
04-25-05, 03:52 PM
I'm so glad I was able to find that out for you guys, even if it was an accident!!! As for the Region 1 DVDs, we have multi-system 110/220v players that play all regions and regular 110v that are connected to a voltage transformer that play only region 1 dvds. Needless to say, we have a TON of components and our TVs are dwarfed in comparrison to them... Most military exchanges have 110/220 multi-system equipment; they are hard to find at Best Buy or Circuit City but can be ordered.

Columbia House actually sent me a decent "We want you back" e-mail code: P5X. This is a standard 6/2 ($14.95 bonus) code and doesn't appear to require a PSN. Not as good as P7G above, but a decent deal that we were happy to get not so long ago.

[Before someone asks, the code is embedded in the URL of the site that the e-mail links to.]

Does anyone have a code that you can type in under the section "Looking for the offer in your mailing?"Why? You receive such offer codes in mailings, like the one that came in your enrollment package. But the deals usually aren't worth bothering with. Your current offer will be at the top of the page anytime you log-in to your account, no need to enter a code. The current "free shipping for three" offer is on all accounts.

Once in awhile Columbia House throws a decent sale code our way and it gets much discussed in other threads. (This thread is for enrollment codes.) An example of such a thread is: New CH code for established accounts..... (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=412149) Most of the codes mentioned there no longer work but one that does (on my account at least) is 801050:
Get Unlimited DVDs at 50% off
when you buy one at regular price. Plus, enjoy a Special Reward and get an EXTRA $10 FunCash with your order of $35 or more!
But that isn't a very good deal because funcash has become almost worthless.

Because some people like to sign up via the web and CH sometimes doesnt notify you and let you know you were approved. With a cc, you can check to see a charge instead of guessing if you were approved or not, and should then apply again.

None of the codes listed on this thread are working for me (I get the pop-up change offer window, but it stays blank unless I put in a 4 digit code, which I make up as a test, and then it says that it doesn't recognize the code).

Whenever I started up a new account previously I had a search engine and a large selection, but now I just get their blue page with a limited selection of titles. I know for fact that there were more titles available when I went throught the club a few months ago...

Does anyone know why things have changed? Or is there a special link to the better selections that I haven't found yet?

Just go to the music club first, then click the DVD club link in the top right corner - you will get the searchable page.

Not adding M2H because its asking for a PSN. Thanx though.

QHR is a 4 commitment code.. knocked down to 3 w/ bonus , according to the website right now.

Oops, sorry about QHR, you are right of course. I just checked the offer again, not sure why I got so excited and made that mistake!

When I just go to www.columbiahouse.com I get two links, the CD club and the DVD club. Of course if I click on the DVD club I get the page I mentioned previously, but if I click on the CD club I get a similar page to the DVD club but without any links to the DVD club like you mentioned...

I have good news and bad news for you.

First the good news. When you go to the original columbiahouse .com site, don't click on the "12 CDs" link, but rather click on one of the album cover pictures above that link. That should take you to the correct CD club link, where, in the upper right hand corner you will see the DVD Club link I mentioned yesterday.

Now the bad news. As others have reported today even when you click on the DVD Club link shown there it now takes you to the abbreviated DVD Club site and not the full site. As of yesterday (6/22) this link was taking you to the correct club site, but today it is not. Hopefully this is all temporary, but we will have to wait and see.

I don't know why I see a different website than everyone else... When I go to the original www.columbiahouse.com site there are no album covers, just two text links that read... "Get 12 CDs for FREE" and "Get 5 DVDs for 49¢ Each"...

Thanks for the info though...

What browser are you using? As I recall, CH has problems with browsers other than IE. The fact that you are being redirected to a page with the word "error" in it makes me think there is some kind of a problem. Also, you might try the famous "clear cookies" remedy as well as be sure to allow for popups.

Of course all of this is moot at the moment since even getting to the "correct" CD page won't get you to the correct DVD page :brickwl: !!

Do you have a direct link? Direct links don't seem to work. They appear to have a session specific pin that changes. When I use a direct link I get an error message.

As suggested to me earlier, I deleted my cookies and was able to get to this site...

http://go.columbiahouse.com/cache/home.do?club=3&cache=true&v=294&mode=QJ3&group=NORMAL

...It's different than the previous "Red" site, but there's still no search option. This "blue site" is the problem. It doesn't have a search function, as you say. So far as I am aware, the only way to get to a searchable enrollment site is using the roundabout way through the Music club:
• from the main Columbia House page, click on a music club icon
• click on club help at the top right
• click on DVD club help at the lower left

This takes you to a searchable DVD club page. If you get an error message, delete all Columbia House cookies and repeat the process. Once at the page:
• Enter the enrollment code, as usual
• Do NOT click on any links (except for "details", if you wish)
• Use the search function to select DVDs and add them to the shopping cart
• Check out as usual

I tested this to the checkout page but wasn't able to place an order since I am not in the market for a new club membership.

This method continues to work but Columbia House may shut it down (perhaps after reading this post). Then we can always fall back on phone enrollments until or unless CH resumes using the normal enrollment site.

6 July 2005, the "back door" is now dead since Columbia House has discontinued its music club in favor of BMG music club. BMG recently purchased CH.

The good news is that the "blue site" now has a search function, making the back door irrelevant.

Any additional codes one tries do not change the offer. To try another code close the browser window and open a new one and start over with the .columbiahouse.com website.

The site seems to be working ok. Use Internet Explorer (the website doesn't like other browsers), click on the "join now" button, enter the code in the popup window, check details of the offer, start shopping.

If you enter the code in the window on the main "Join Today" page it doesn't seem to take. You need to enter it in the popup window or in the "Do You Have a Savings Code" box on the enrollment website.

If I have a PSN from another account, but that account is under a different name but still of someone else in my household, can I use that same PSN when signing up under my own name so as to get the best deal? Again, both accounts would have the same address, same last name even. Will that work, or will I have to sing up under my own name with the 2nd best deal first to get my own PSN? I can easily use another email too, if that helps.

I don't think LMT ever had an option of paying with a card. The theory was if you've had a previous account [you have a PSN], then CH can trust you with up to 8 movies without any money up front.

The old 2+2+3 codes were:
4cv cxc ddk ddt de4 dec ($7.83 average)

cxb dc9 ddh ddl dds ddv de3 de5 deb ded ($8.18 average)

Perhaps you can get one of them to work correctly.

Just tried LMT on the CH website. Here is what it says:

"It's true. Choose 6 DVDs for $0.49 each, with free shipping! All you need to do is buy 3 DVDs over the next 2 years at $19.95 or more plus shipping and processing, and you may cancel at anytime after doing so. Plus, our DVDs are always available with great deals, so you can purchase items toward your commitment - - and continue to save at the same time when you order DVDs that are on sale!

There's no risk, your introductory package is sent on a 10-day trial basis and includes complete details of membership. If you are not completely satisfied, you may return the package at our expense and we'll cancel your membership and refund your money.

Pretty good, right?

It gets even better.... Take a 6th movie now for $9.95 with free shipping and have only 2 more movies to buy (instead of 3) in the next 2 years. Plus, you can take a 7th movie for the special price of $9.95 with free shipping."

I presume that you called 888-242-3837. The regular Columbia House phone numbers do not work for new accounts using the best codes.

If you haven't ever had an account before you should have no trouble applying on the web. If you have had accounts before you have a PSN (an account number from a previous account). It is only those of us who have had many previous accounts that have difficulty with web applications not being accepted.

When I go to the URL above, the first thing I get (since I have not created a cookie with my account login yet) is the screen offering 6 titles for $.49, with the savings code box at the lower right. Are you not getting this? In the past, because of the cookie, I would have to login on a machine I had never used for CH yet to get this screen. Even clearing my cookies on my principal computer would not let me create a new account. HTH.

Whereabouts is the savings code box located?

What does the 1KJ code allow you to do?Go to www. columbiahouse.com (delete the space after www. ) and right in the middle of the page is a box with a "Go" button next to it. Enter the code in the box and press Go.

1kjd, and many similar codes, allow you to buy 6 DVDs for 49¢ plus a bonus for $9.95 that reduces your committment to just two; shipping is free. The total enrollment cost is $12.89 for the seven DVDs. You must eventually purchase two DVDs at $19.95 or higher to fulfill your account.

1kjd, 1kgd, 1kkd do not require a PSN (a number from a previous account) but do require a credit card when used on-line.

The DVD Talk forum automatically captures www. columbiahouse.com (without the space) and links to a referral page. This is why we have to break up columbiahouse.com addresses when we post them here. To get to the main CH home page just type the address in your browser window, don't use links from here.
