still "Game time decision" .... he better be able to go.

If Tech and Duke win today I will have correctly predicted the final four for the first time in my 20+ year history of filling out brackets. Obviously the first year I did one for my dad's office pool when I was in Junior High, I didn't do so good with my pick of Alcorn State to go all the way :) I don't know why I remember that...couldn't tell you I picked any other year (except Oklahoma - bastards!)....but I've had a fondness for Alcorn State ever since...as if their success in some form will somehow redeem my childhood fancifullness....

elder said an injury kept him out of and cost his team a state tournament.. so he will try his best to play
but that doesnt sound too promising for what type of performance to expect out of him.. and alot of times, will have the opposite reaction if he cant perform and holds his team back

Well the key to the Duke game is Williams and Deng. If this turns into a battle of the guards, Xavier can certainly hang with Duke. The difference btwn this Duke team and ones in recent years (where they have not advanced far into the tourney) is their inside game and interior defense/rebounding. If those facets of their game are prominently on display, then, yeah, it could be blow-out city.

I am definitely pulling for the Jackets since I have them losing to UConn in the finals (and the guy I am neck and neck with at the top of my pool has OSU winning it all).

I have Duke in the Final Four losing to UConn. However, it might be more advantageous for me for Duke to lose because 1) makes for an easier road for UConn, 2) I can't imagine that anyone in my pool has X in the Final Four, and 3) it effectively takes out all the Duke-Champion pickers.

Tommy_Harn
03-28-04, 12:40 PM
I'm a Xavier fan today. Also pulling for Tech, who are the only other ACC team I can stand (besides Carolina, of course).

With that said, I expect Kansas and dook to advance. No way Elder is anywhere near 100%, and they definately need him to be in order to win. After watching Kansas look awful a couple times in January, I would have NEVER thought they would make it this far.

How is it a ref can call a foul when he's being blocked by the players' bodies while the ref right there staring at it doesn't make a call

Patman

This is a crazy uptempo game so far, and I expect GT to stay with it because Kansas's half-court game is probably too good to defend if the tempo slows down.

GT's Marvin Lewis couldn't miss against Nevada and in this game, he couldn't make a shot. But it's been GT's overall team defense that has shut down their opponents' best players these last 4 games in the tourney. 4/4 on my Final Four but things would be looking a lot sweeter if I went 3/4 with Xavier in there. Leave it to be Duke to stand btwn me and winning a huge bracket pool.

Who doesn't want to give Duhon a handjob? ;) Yes, everything is called a charge now. 15 years ago, probably 1 out of every 5 or 6 'collisions' was called a charge. Since Coach K and Duke became the darlings of college basketball, the ratio has dropped to 1:1.

After that performance, it's hard to see how anyone other than a fan of the other teams wouldn't be pulling for the Jackets at this point.

We had lived with Cremins for so long that I just got used to it, but it's been great to watch how Hewitt has completely rebuilt the program around his own coaching philosophy. When he took the job, I went to a dinner where he was the guest of honor and spoke in detail about what his plan would be for the team. To his credit, aside from a couple of bumps, it's gone pretty much just like he said it would. I certainly enjoyed the success we had under Cremins, but Hewitt's teams are a lot more fun to watch IMO.

Inspired performance from Jack with Elder on the bench. Coming into the ACC tournament, I didn't think they had a team leader to carry them through March, but Jack has certainly proved me wrong, and I'm quite happy to see it.
