I've got to go to a wedding reception tonight, but not to worry - in addition to the endless amounts of Miller Lite on tap (I feel a hangover coming on tomorrow morning) there will be a tv in the bar tuned into CBS (thankfully).
I'm excited about the Duke/U of I game - my two favorite teams squaring off against one another in a major tournament game. Life doesn't get much better...or more nerve-racking.
On another note - I hope UAB takes that "rock chalk" chant and shoves it down the Jayhawks throat. Forty Minutes of Hell, baby!!!!

03-26-04, 05:13 PM
GO UAB Xavier, Duke and Ga Tech!!! the latter are in my final four, and the former underdogs will help me by knocking a couple more people out for me - one guy i'm neck and neck with has Texas going all the way....

the announcers are trying their best to sell this game, but KU-UAB has been a dog so far and I ain't buying unless UAB starts the 2nd half on an 11-2 run

KU - UAB is over....so its come on Xavier!!

I'm Greg Gumbel. The other game is just now going to commercial so let's switch to it....
We're getting pin-balled between the KU and UT games here in Oklahoma.
(also: I'd pay good money to see UAB vs. Pitt)

I flipped back to that game and I only caught him walking off and shaking hands with Bill Self, but I was on the phone and I had the sound down, so i don't know what happened. Seems like you'd have to really go over the line to get a ref to toss you in that situation. The announcers said something about "sometimes you just feel like you have to make a statement".
?????

For Illinois to only be down 1 against Duke with Augie and Williams on the bench with 2 fouls for about half the first half is amazing. Hopefully they can hit some shots in the 2nd half.
Neither team is playing as well as they can.

Updates? Um ... players diving all over the floor and catching elbows like crazy. Very hard-fought (and injury prone) game from both sides -- although Tech's been hurt more by the injuries. Ouch ... Jack just hit the deck on a wet spot on a fullspeed fast break. -eek-
Tech up by 2 with 5:30 to go. Great game. Marvin Lewis has picked up a lot of the slack from the loss of Elder.
Make that up 5.

Duke gets more friggin' charge calls than any team in the history of organized sport, it drives me insane! I figured that after Shane "All I Do Is Draw Charges" Battier left, that our long national nightmare would be over, but no, the tradition continues. DAMN YOU DOOKIES, DAMN YOU!!!

Definitely an effort to be proud of. And that is comment I rarely throw out there for a rival team. Not since the days of Bobby Cremins has Tech had a reason to be proud about hoops.

I have Duke going to the final 4 but considering that I am heavily relying on UConn and that probably nobody has Xavier in the final 4 (near the top of the pool that I competing with anyhow), I can finally root against the Dookies.

What's the status of Elder's injury? I was really hoping Tech could make it to the Championship game and face off against UConn, I really don't know if they can beat a surging Kansas squad if Elder is out.

I've said all along the winner of Duke/UConn will win this thing, but I'd gladly be proven wrong by Xavier, since I too have UConn going all the way and will win some fat cash if they do it like they should.

I didn't expect Illinois to win but that game was their for the taking and they laid an egg.
Augustine's phantom 3rd foul really hurt since Weber had to put Nick Smith back out their he was basically a 6th player for Duke.
If that's all Duke has UConn should roll to the championship game.

I'm there too. I entered 3 pools and relied on UConn beating Duke on one side in the final 4 in all 3 pools and then hedging around that on the other side. Fortunately, things have fallen into place quite nicely on the other side in one of my entries (GT, St Joes, and OK St) so I look to score some fat cash too.
