Well let's start with a group which includes Shannon Elizabeth, Denise Richard and Jaime Pressly. Basically the "I hit it big because i took my kit off, then got an ego and thought i could be appreciated as an ahem serious actress and won't accept the fact that really my body is the only piece of me worthwhile"

Jennifer Love Hewitt's career has also jumped the shark, she was a kind of flavour of the month

The actor who played Oliver in the OC. Hopefully that will be his one and only role ever and he will go back to being a paper boy

Sean William Scott's 15 mins are just about over me thinks too

They haven't yet, but I hope Colin Ferrell and Ashton Kutcher jump the shark real soon...or maybe the shark will just eat them. I find both these guys talentless and annoying to watch on-screen - particularly Kutcher.

tara reid..actually everyone in the first American Pie is real close

Seann William Scott is a pretty decent actor when given the chance (look at the indie/action flick Stark Raving Mad). Same applies to Ashton Kutcher (The Butterfly Effect) and Colin Ferrell (it looks like he's going back to smaller films with Intermission). It's just too bad that those three guys pick really bad roles over roles they can actually do well in.

There are a few young actors who are actually good at acting, it's just that they choose the wrong roles. James Van Der Beek was good in The Rules of Attraction, but in his other works (Dawson's Creek and Varsity Blues come to mind) he wasn't really flexing his acting chops.

Now, whatever happened to Jason Biggs? Other than a few teen comedies and that Woody Allen flick, he hasn't done much else. Along with what k123vt_99, most of the American Pie cast is real close. Just look at Chris Klein... an awful actor who ruined his career with the remake of Rollerball.

I don't know about that one. I heard she was great in that ballet movie she was just in.

I think Sean William Scott is gonna have a very long career in Hollywood same goes for Colin Farrell. I would say Martin Lawrence, but no matter how much crap that guy puts out he's always in a new movie. As for women, I don't think Jaimie Pressley ever hit it big.

I really think Vin Diesel is done. No one really seems to care about him anymore and I don't think The Chronicles of Riddick can save him.

Two words - Gretchen Moll.

Hello...Reese Witherspoon anyone?

She turned in fantastic performances, turned a lot of heads, and got a lot of attention in A+ flicks like Freeway and Election.

Then she sells out to the WB crowd with Legally Blonde!!! BARF

Then she rubs our noses in what a big sell out she is by cheapening herself even more in a sequal.

Oh well, she's done. Next please

I was thinking Natalie Portman as soon as I saw the title of the thread.

Really, is she contractually bound to play those Star Wars parts exclusively? At least she seems to have some other 2004 films in the can at last. I hope she can recover.

When did she ever hit it big? I'd say 9 out of 10 people don't have a clue who she is. Actually, I took my girlfriend to see Chicago on Broadway about a month ago & Gretchen Mol starred in it & I thought she was phenomenal.

Anyway, I definitely think Shannon Elizabeth, Jason Bigs, & Vin Diesel are the 3 failry young actors that have jumped the shark the most.

I think Keira Knightly out of every young actor/actress has the chance to have the longest staying power.

Colin Farrel is the actor I WISH more than any other would just go away. I think the guy is utterly boring to watch. (yes, I even though he was overrated as Bullseye, just your typical psycho bad guy, anyone could have done what he did with the role).

He's in Jersey Girl right now.
But it's as a supporting role. After since American Pie came out, he was the lead role in every film he joined (exclusion Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back). It's too bad most of those films sucked (Loser and Saving Silverman easily come to mind).

It's too bad, cause I'm a fan of the Biggsy.

I would say Hayden Christensen, but he didn't really "jump the shark"--more like, "crashed and burned on the ramp".

Hey nobody should be knockin Jaime Pressly. She's not the type to get naked, and stop doing that once she becomes big. Cause...she still gets naked, and she ain't that big.

 exactly. He plays the quirky roles that most actors probably wouldn't want or couldn't pull off.

No mention of Affleck or Lopez yet? I like Affleck, but J.Lo started out great in Out of Sight then had to go make a music career then proceeds to make nothing but crap movies ever since.

She is (was?) going to Harvard, so she can only do films in the summer.

Jason Schwartzman. Starts on a career high with Rushmore, and now he's doing some show on Fox that is bound to be canceled. He was in Spun, but that blew, and some other crappy college comedy. It's really a shame, because I think he's quite a good actor.

As for Sean William Scott, I think he has enough charisma to stick around for a while.

No one cares about Shannon Elizabeth anymore.

Jason Biggs was great in Anything Else, I can imagine him branching out a bit more.

As for Gretchen Mol...what? She was in The Shape of Things last year and she was great.

I'm not disputing the talent boys, his turn in the Gift was one of the most brillantly twisted performances of the 90's for my money. But what has he done of note lately? SPR is 7 years ago now, and then he seemed on the fast track and he's simply not on the fast track now. He'll still work, everyone mentioned will still work, but I think some have jumped.

i thought he did an awesome job in both Basic and Cold Mountain. as was said, he's a great character actor...possibly the Harry Dean Stanton of the newer generation.

when rounders came out she was considered the next big "it" girl. i never understood it myself, but she was pretty hot. she's a good actress but she has pretty much run that early prediction to death.

Shannon Elizabeth - started off in a couple of decent flicks and now she has fallen so far that she is pimpin herself on While You Were Out and that 70's Show.
Tara Ried how is she in movies? She is THE WORST actress I have ever seen. Pornstars in bestiality films have more charisma.
Giovanni Ribisi is a great actor and he will have a long career.

Kirsten Dunst, whose last noteworthy films were Interview with the Vampire and Bring it On.

Elisha Dushku, whose last noteworth film was Bring it On.

Jessica Alba. Why exactly do we know this lady's name.

Everyone on the cast of that 70's show. They should have killed that show after its first season and ended in greatness.

Piper Perabo: burnout.

Also, that kid from That 70s Show was pretty damn good in Traffic.

I don't think anyone gives a crap about Heath Ledger anymore. He was all the rage when A Knight's Tale came out and then did some other movie where it looked he played a priest which tanked.
