They are very character driven. Kieslowski pays particular attention to detail and it shows in these movies. Blue is my favorite and I think is one of the best French films I've ever seen (albeit I haven't seen that many). They are all about relationships between people.

Three gorgeous, haunting masterpieces. Consider yourself lucky.

I've always wanted to rent this set and check out what the hoopla is all about. I will have to make time to do so...and soon.

I don't quite recall why they were rated R. And I don't know what "hc" nudity is. I don't think there was any nudity at all in fact.

I think by "hc" he means hardcore.

Three absolutely beautiful films... Although, and no offense intended Rypro, at your age... I would rent these before buying... Very subtle films that are challenging and quite rewarding - if you can sit still (which I know you can) and pay attention to the details.

You should run these through IMDB and study up on the external reviews...
Blue is my favorite of the bunch (although the "climax" in Red is damn_teriffic).

You're getting into the best damn trilogy ever put to film.
But I agree with Johnny Zhivago, you should rent first - especially if you are younger and don't normally gravitate towards art films.

White was my favorite. It was funny, sad and ironic at the same time. Blue was too depressing for my taste. Red was also fun and stars the beautiful Irene Jacob who I want to marry and have 9 kids with.

Red was my favourite, then Blue, then White. The opening shot of Red is amazing
Don't ask, but see Red last :)

Blue is simply one of the greatest films ever shot. A staggeringly amazing movie.
Strangely enough, I've never warmed up to Red... and I think that White is criminally underrated.

Great films. I haven't watched them in some time (I'm looong overdue to revisit these) but I remember Red as being my favourite. But, yes, definitely watch them in order.

In regards to the R rating: I don't recall any explicit nudity, though there's a butt shot in Red I think. There are "sounds" and "scenes" of people having sex, but nothing too explicit.

.. with probably The Best Cinematic Score Ever.
As to whether the original poster would like these movies .. it's hard to say. People either LOVE these movies .. or feel underwhelmed and still can't understand the fuss over them. Hard to say beforehand how anyone would react to them.

just did a little research on the ratings reasons
blue is r for some sexuallity
white is r for some sexuallity and language
red is r for a brief but strong sex scene (what ever "strong" means)
i'll look at hollywood tomorrow, but i might have to shell out some cash for these.
