Good game, but it's a mixed bag.
Legends has more story and some extra characters, but the original ran faster and smoother on the DC. For some reason DC ports don't turn out that well...

Is this game worth $27 (with shipping and tax in CA)... any chance it will become player choice in the future.. or the eventually the used one will be less than $20? I still has tons of RPG to catch up... don't know if i should believe the hype and order it and then have it dust up on my shelf for years... any suggestion?

I have both, the GC version is far better. Not sure about the comment of it running smoother on DC. I never experienced that and I did a comlpete comparison when the game arrived for GC. To me, it's better in every regard.

If you live in California, check out Fry's first. Although Outpost.com and Fry's don't always have the same deals, I did pick up the last SOA they had for 20 bucks at the one in Burbank last week.

I for one didn't feel the random encounters in the GCN version were vastly improved. Still, if you have a GC, get it. It's the only good true RPG for the system. Actually, it's the only good true RPG i've played this entire generation...

Wow, you sold it for 35 bucks? Is it hard to find or something?
It's gone onto my pretty large backlog of rpgs (which will be queued up even longer because of FF XI)

Same price at Manhattan Beach Fry's - also a bunch of copies
Looks like Fry's stocked up the the old Sega catalog titles (shinobi, skies of arcadia, house of the dead, etc.)
