Don't ask me what made me think of this. I saw Harry in an interview the other day and thought, wow he couldn't have many years left. I guess I grew up in the age where I recognize his voice with NFL Films. It's going to be hard to find a signature voice like that again.
oops: Mod move this to Sports please.

I like that guy's voice. Is he retiring soon? His best quote was from the new Patriots Superbowl DVD. "The loss dropped the Patriots to 2-2. They would not lose again." :)

Yea his voice is so unique. Actually it really doesn't "fit" what he looks like. You know how some people have a really odd voice but look even more odd.

Great voice. That guy is the best. No one says "the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field" quite like he does.
He's also the voice of the Phillies and has been for years.
Chris...do you remember Johnny Most broadcasting the old Celtics' games? Now there was a voice.

I never really followed the Celtics. When did he broadcast? Ive heard numerous Celtic clips and I could probably remember him if I knew what era he did. Was he the "Havilcheck stole the ball!" guy?

Thought it was John Facenda that made that famous :hscratch:
(Facenda is the one I remember most from the NFL Films)

I was going to say the same thing...except adding "the Late" John Facenda to his name :(
I think Kalas is more known for doing Inside the NFL on HBO as much as anything...but their voices are easily confused as you can tell from that link i posted above....

I know John started it so thats why I mentioned the era when I grew up and why I'm associated to Harry. I guess that makes me biased but I'm sure they were all great. NFL Films is a great great company and the stuff they produce is excellent.

You are correct. I too remember him most from NFL Films. I guess we're old school.

Harry Kalas always reminds me of summer, sitting out by the pool listening to phillies games. I still miss rich ashburn though.
I am sure there is some announcer with a great unique voice to carry on the facenda/kalas nfl films, and people of that generation will just associate nfl films with that voice. Like I think of Kalas, my dad facenda.

It seems that they're already grooming his replacement.

Yeah - just think of what a guy's voice would sound like after chain-smoking 4 packs of cigarettes and you have Johnny Most. ;)
