They shouldn't need to parody. :\
Watched a couple Season 10 episodes earlier tonight, those surprisingly held up quite well ("But you liked Rashomon." "That's not how I remember it") Dunno much of what I'm thinking of this season really, some good episodes and funny gags but overall kind of.. odd.
This episode was entertaining but seemed to end mid episode heh.

The first couple minutes were somewhat funny, but then went downhill. The parody was too dated to be even funny. How many "worst episode ever!" can this show have?

I liked Homer when he put the rehab place on hold.

I thought there were some laughs. The Star Wars material wasn't anything close to fresh (was this an old script?), but it was accurate.
Like a lot of this season, it felt as if it was just an amalgam of old episodes.

Decent show, but not as great as other recent episodes. Generally speaking I've enjoyed this season thus far.

Parts of this episode were great (the part where Homer was on hold was great, best part of the episode). Granted, I thought the Star Wars stuff was overdone but still funny. Overall, though, it definitely wasn't up too par with some of the more recent episdoes from the season (last week's was great).

I liked the "Andy Dick Is In/Out" sign at the entrance of the rehab clinic. A few good laughs, but nothing overwhelmingly impressive. Still, beats most of the other stuff on TV.

I agree on the tastelessness of the whole drunk driving plot (not a big fan of child abandonment, but DUIing ins much much worse, and hey it is a cartoon). But when they approached it on Everybody Loves Raymond (Debra falls asleep in the car drunk and gets arrest, at least they did not have her actually driving the car drunk (semantics really, but I still didn't like that storyline in ELR either)

Yeah, well, I figured they left their kids home unattended, they'ld make the leap to having Marge drive drunk. Then later in the show Homer gave his kids to Flanders to watch, but then the Simpsons has never been consistent.
Homer and Bart have been declared illiterate, yet they're able to read in the next episode.

I disagree; other than the tired Star Wars parody the writing of the Marge drunk plot was very solid. Admitidly it was not in the least bit original but it is logical with some of Marge's behavior in the past, many of the gags were great and they didn't linger on any element of the plot long enough for it to get tired.

I definitely thought that the Star Wars parody was oddly-timed (a joke that is about 4 years too late), but I must admit that I was laughing pretty hard throughout almost the entire episode start to finish. I can't really complain.

Whether its tasteless or out-of-date, it cracked me up - as it does every week. I still think the show is darn funny.
I just want to add that am I constantly amazed at how many people seem to think the show is tired or old, but still manage to not just watch it every week, but write about it as well.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but when a show starts losing me, I'm gone and don't look back.

I'll admit-- I laughed at many of the Star Wars jokes, even though they were terribly dated.
The other part that cracked me up is when Homer opened the can of soda in the car, and it poured up. Classic.
