I have no sympathy for CBS. If you are to give one game the national spotlight, it makes zero sense to do a 1/8 matchup. Their love of Duke and all that is Duke is just as bad as ESPN's. Not to mention, their coverage has sucked for the first 2 days.

Shaun Pruitt from WA is heading to Illinois next year and their pg is going to Seton Hall.
H-F has Julian Wright who's one of the Top 10 jr's in the country. 6'7 sf with pg skills. Has an ugly outside shot.
Livingston's played like crap. His teammate Brandon Lee is the only reason they've made it this far. I caught the 4th quarter of the PC game this morning and Livingston's only highlight was getting posterized by a Carbondale player on a fast break.

Nothing against Maryland -- they had a fine season and an amazing ACC tournament -- but let's be real, here. They weren't a 4 seed. I <i>almost</i> picked UTEP to take them down (backing down after realizing they're too well coached to lose in the first round), but combine their regular season performance with the potential let down after the ACC tournament, and taking them to the Sweet-16 is a pretty big gamble IMO. Game's not over, though. :)

I was hesitant when I pencilled them as my darkhorse candidate, but I thought "what the hell".
I consider them a huge gamble, but if you're going to take a "darkhorse" they're certainly a good candidate. Stanford's iffy, Syracuse is iffy, UConn's injury woes are still a question mark, and Maryland's beaten NC State twice. Combine that with tournament experience, and they certainly have darkhorse potential. Not that I'd even consider picking them to do it. :D

Oh, well. Those missed free throws proved to be the difference in the end. Nice try by DJ, but just not enough this time. Still, a good game till the end.
I'm glad I wasn't my brother-in-law for the Syracuse-Maryland game. He went to both schools (Syracuse for his undergrad and Maryland for his grad/doctorate). He was rooting for Syracuse, but would've preferred that the two teams didn't play each other.

My bracket is taking a beating as well. I had Stanford in the Elite Eight and Gonzaga in the sweet sixteen. I had Maryland losing first round, so that one didn't affect me. I've now lost 6 sweet sixteen teams, and one elite eight.

They didn't do what they needed to do. That 4th 'foul' called on Gilchrist was one of the most ridiculously bad calls I've seen. Amazing that they actually had a chance at the end given how poorly they played. Maryland may rarely play pretty games, but they always go down to the wire. Always.
Overall, a satisfying year though given the makeup of the team: 4 freshman, 4 sophomores, and a JUCO senior in the 9-man rotation. To win the ACC title and go to the 2nd round of tournament is about as much as I can ask for. I can't wait to see them next season with some of the big guns leaving Duke, State and UNC.

As for brackets, yeah, I suffered some damage with the Stanford and Maryland losses, but in one bracket I had Bama upsetting Stanford and then going to the Elite 8, so I am looking great in that one. Plus I had UConn winning it all in all 3 of my brackets, so taking Stanford out of there helps clear the way for that.
