I'm not sure about the Serpico blind buy. Al Pacino's performence is excellent, and the movie is very good. However, it's a slower film with heavy emphasis on character development. In other words, a film like this wouldn't get released today. It's not a shoot 'em up action type movie. Don't go into this expecting The Godfather or Scarface. I would definately rent this movie first. You may really love it, or just go "meh, good performance but very dry and boring." I am by no means saying this movie is bad, heck I have it in my DVD collection, but it's not for everybody.
