Problem with "We Were Soldiers" ??
Was watching We Were Soldiers for the first time this weekend on a previously unopened disc set. Film is shot in 2.35:1 so on my 65" Set I still got the top and bottom bars.
Thats when I noticed....along the top edge, just inside of the actual framed shot (meaning just underneath where the "movie" meets the black top letterboxing bar) I noticed that throughout most of the film, there was a thin horizontal line going across the screen left to right...it was kinda whiteish, and reminded me of the distortion you get when you digitize a VHS or TV source...you know, the "distortion" that you can get along the top and bottom edges of the picture....
Like a mastering error or something. Its not the TV, tried HD in 2.35..no line, tried other 2.35 DVD's...no line. Just that film.
Any ideas? Is there a known flaw or "bad batch" of these discs floating around out there.....???

DVD Talk Legend
There's an official name for this - but someone more "Tech" in this forum will have to post and let you know. But I know exactly what you're talking about - I haven't seen it on a lot of DVDs, but there are a few scenes in THE TWO TOWERS EE that have this problem - although it's very, very slight. It's unsual to have it throughout the film though...I don't own WHEN WE WERE SOLIDERS, or I'd check it out...
