Murmurs of Earth is a book all about the golden records placed on the Voyager probes and shot into space. It apparently details the selection process of what images were used, and basicly desconstructs our 'message in a bottle' to the stars. The deluxe version even has a CD rom including a reporduction of the the sounds, music and pictures.
Frankly the thing sounds damn facinating. Unfortunatly, the book has been out of print since 1992. I managed to find a copy of it - but it costs just a touch shy of a hundred bucks. I was wondering it anyone else had read the buck, and could tell me if indeed it was worth this kind of money.
If it is, I'll eat top ramen for a month and pay for the thing. If not, well, I'd like to avoid wasting a C-note.
