I've become addicted to games in the past where you think about it all the time. I would be scared of playing a game where you really are "missing out" on it when you're not playing it. I like to be able to tell myself that it can't do anything until I turn it back on.

I can't speak for FFXI, but I can say that I'm currently addicted to old school Track and Field on my mame machine.
The expense and time building it was worth it for this game alone.

Does this game have a story or quests?
I've only played a few MMORPGs but all of them were graphically enhanced chatting clients and level up machines, I'd be interested in this if it was different from the current crop of MMORPGs because it looks pretty cool.

I've read some reviews of this game, and they said it was currently the only MMOG that is worth the monthly fee. And by the post on this board, it seems that they are right.

Look at it this way Exzavier00, better your addicted to a game than to something like drugs or booze. You're lucky in one thing, there is no withdrawal from quitting if that's what you're looking for help on doing, you delete you character, delete your account and simply never log back in. Going cold turkey is the only way to get out of these games.

Everquest has a ton more quests than FFXI and probably 100 times the content, Horizons has a better crafting system, Shadowbane has city sieges and PvP- I'm sure everyone playing those games also think that they are the only one worth the monthly fee. Well i know someone who played everquest for like 3 years and from what i understand it doesn't have quests per se. Only if you count, Go kill 10 goblins, now go kill 20 and so on (at least that's what he said) and FFXI is adding PVP soon, they are already working on it.

Well not everything is going to be available in every game right off the bat. Since i started playing FF a month ago they've added i think 5 new places you can visit and many new quests. Oh and the graphics are gorgeous compared to the others i've seen. My roommate was walking when it was rainy weather and he swore he saw lightning go off behind a cloud in the sky
oh and of course EQ has more places to go and more quests and stuff, it's been out for years and years and has what? 8 expansions i think maybe. FF hasn't even been out a year. Give it time

I got FF XI about two weeks ago and I'm addicted too. I love the game and I'm having a total blast running around killing monsters and completing quests. This is my first mmorpg and the fact that I'm actually partying with my friends just adds to the fun.
