Some gamecube game price drops

Nintendo Updates Players Choice Line With In-House Titles

Nintendo Updates Players Choice Line With In-House Titles
While it seems that new titles have been added to the player's choice collection left and right, this is the first announcement since last year of new player's choice titles directly from Nintendo's own publishing arm.

Staring April 29th, both Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour and Wario World will be reduced from $49.99 to $29.99, as is the usual reduction for Nintendo's own titles. F-Zero GX, however, will mysteriously be introduced at a cheaper $19.99 price point. On a related note, Metroid Prime will be reduced ten dollars to $19.99 -- SCEA's standard for their substantial "greatest hits" series.

These titles will join some 40 other games in Nintendo's growing line of budget hits, which continue to sell strongly at their new and more affordable price. (wj)

Great news about F-zero, I will probably finally pick that at up for $15 with GGC at Best Buy. Also anyone who hasn't gotten Metroid Prime should definitely pick it up at that price.

Once Wario World hits $19.99 I will probably pick that up. Maybe it will be on sale.

I think it's pretty misleading for them to continue having two seperate price points for the same "Players Choice" line of games.

So, some are $29.99, and some are $19.99?

I think the Platinum Hits/Greatest Hits gameplan was to offer already successful and popular games at a lower price point once they reach a certain sales figure. Is this the same with Players Choice?

If so... why two price points? A little confusing and unfair to the consumer don't you think? To me, a $29.99 game is hardly a bargain; but I'm more than willing to pick up an established title for under $20.

word.

imo, they should stop sending me full color brochures of upcoming games and use that marketing money to keep the prices of games down.

My question: Is F-Zero even worth $15? I hated the game

Cool...I never got around to picking up F-Zero, but at that price point how can I resist.

Now, how about getting those Resident Evil ports down to a reasonable price?

F-Zero is a tremendous game
A challenging title with superb graphics, sound, music, cutscenes, and finally GAMEPLAY, the story mode with unlockable chapters is ingenious and the levels within are spectacular. Combine all that with the F-Zero garage, and you have one GREAT game.
I think the difficulty level on this is overhyped, its a twitch game but its not THAT hard! Frustrating and time consumig yes, but I thought thats why we bought games...

Different strokes for different folks. I play games to kill time when I have nothing better to do and relax, not to be challenged and frustrated.

F-Zero seems daunting at first but once you try and fail a few times you really start to get the hang of it.

Here's my review of F-Zero GX:

At $19.99 I would say this is a must-buy for racing fans.

I was just watching CNN and they had a little segment on budget gaming. There number one choice for a person getting into gaming under $200 was a Gamecube with Animal Crossing, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Brothers (all Players Choice titles). No mention of the Wavebird though.

So, any updates on these price drops? I haven't seen these new prices anywhere yet. The original post said 4/29/04. I'm interested in F-Zero GX and Metroid Prime, if I can get them at BestBuy with the GGC.

Edit: Okay, ebgames.com is showing these with the new prices, but circuitcity and bestbuy aren't yet. So I guess these price drops are legit and out there, but might take some time to be updated in some stores' systems.

I'll probably buy another copy of Metroid Prime. The yellow banner PC version fixes the random lockup issue.
