Movie buffs, here's one for you: Does "RAN" have an Intermission?
Hi there,
I'm having a rather stupid argument witha friend, concerning Kurosawa's movies. I'm sure there's an intermission in "Ran", but he says only older, black and white movies like "Seven Samurai" have intermissions, since longer running times were no longer an issue in the '70s.
I guess the best way to check it is to see the DVD, but I don't have the film on DVD.
Can anyone confirm?

The last time I saw Seven Samurai in a theater there was an intermission. When I saw Ran during its original release, it did not.

Well if it's any consolation, I watched Barry Lyndon last night, and that does have an intermission, so your friend's argument that only older, pre-70s films have intermission is incorrect.
