Circuit City Price Match policy problem
Last week I bought the Hitachi 51S500 HDTV at my local Circuit City store. The price was $2099.99, and I was able to receive 24 months no interest financing (through Hitachi, not CC). This week, the set is on sale for $1999.99, and on CC.com for $1799.99. I talked to a guy at the store just now, and he tells me I can either get $100 back and keep my no interest financing, or get the $300 back and lose the no interest financing. Supposedly "it costs CC $400 to do the no interest" he says, even though Hitachi is doing the financing. Do this guy (or his manager) not know what they are talking about, or is this the best I can do? Getting the no interest financing is about the only way I can really afford the TV, so losing it isnt really a good option.

Well I havent had this particular situation happen, but if CC isnt doing the financing then there probably isnt a way for them to modify the terms. Is it on a CC credit card?

I worked at CC, but I'm not sure what Hitachi's terms are. They might specify that their 0% isn't applicable for online sales, which would be why you couldn't take that promotion and the CC.com price. Sometimes CC gives online customers more off the purchase price because they can't get a certain promotion that's available in-store, like zero percent. The 100 off and keeping 0% for two years is still pretty good.

I would bring the cc.com printout into the cashier and have her price match. It usually just deducts the difference ($300) instead of refunding the $2099 and recharging the $1799.
