CREED frontman SCOTT STAPP is celebrating the Christian rock group's tenth anniversary by going it alone. The hit makers celebrated a decade together in January, and now Stapp has decided to take a break to concentrate on a solo career. The singer says, "We all committed 10 years to each other, and then we would work on some other stuff we had going on. We hit 10 years in mid-January." Stapp is working on new solo material with hip-hop producer 7 AURELIUS. He adds, "It's going to have some thump in the back and rock over the top of it, but I'm not going to rap." Stapp is also planning to dive into movies, and admits he's currently looking at a number of scripts. (wenn)

I think it's great that Stapp's going to work on his solo career, but I have to be honest ... if his new work doesn't exude the trademark religious hypocrisy made famous by Creed, I'm not sure I'll be interested.

Scott was on one of those late night shows...cant remember which one..
Anyway..
He said and he wanted to make it clear that Creed is NOT a christian rock band..just because he has a strong christian upbringing doesnt make the band one...
He also said his bandmates HATE it when people call them Christian rock cause they as people are not very religous (except for Scott)

Here's an idea - why not change the thread title rather than just move the thread craps, which were just being begged for by the rather provocative and inaccurate title to the thread?

Not sure what you mean. Their lyrics do have a lot of religious references in them. Where you referring to their lives not matching up w/ their songs, or did you see some hypocrisy within the songs themselves?

Well pretty much every video they have done has either some sort of religious undertone, or some type of religious imagery in them.
And lyrically, lets start with the first single they released: My Own Prison, he sings about sin, demons, vision of a cross, or even I cry out to God
Seeking only his decision
Gabriel stands and confirms
I've created my own prison.
Higher also has a religious tone to it. Sounds like he is basically singing about heaven to me.
No I wouldn't call them a christian rock band either but they do have a christian tone to them whether they like it or not.

Yeah I hate it too when Creed is mentioned as a Christian band....their lyrics do have religious context in them but w/ swearing and the way he acts its a shame they sometimes get labeled in that genre.

Hopefully Stapp is a better solo artist than a poker player (did you see him on that celebrity poker show?)
Seriously though, it will be interesting to see what direction he takes with his music.

Is there swearing outside the use of Goddamn in that one song on any of their other tracks? I've never heard any.
