Okay. While worldwide grosses more or less prove that both Reloaded and Revolutions were still hits, it still seems that they have a fair amount of hatin from the general public.
I will say that I wasn't that impressed with the story for Reloaded initially, but with more viewings it grew on me and I now think it better than the original. While I think it the weakest of the three, I found Revolutions quite enjoyable as well. For all I know the fact that the two times I saw it were at "zero hour" and an IMAX presentation might make me hold it higher than it deserves, but what the heck.
Overall, I thought Revolutions a great movie when viewed as the third act of a story or the second half of a story with Reloaded as the first part. Standing alone I can see the fault, but since are sequels really meant to do that?
Just for reference, I also own both the theatrical and EE versions of all LOTR films released so far, used my X-Mas gift money to buy the Alien Quadrilogy and Buffy season five, and just this weekend scored what I consider a major victory by getting reasonable priced used copies of the first season of Lost in Space and Battlestar Galactica.

Beats me, I quite liked it too. Seemed like a natural story resolution to the trilogy. Sure, some of the character moments weren't high drama but, let's get real, none of these movies have been amazing as drama anyway. So...I don't get the hating...I thought it to be a fun, fairly well thought out (perhaps a little too subtle at points) action sci-fi movie that was worth every dollar I paid. Can't wait to buy the DVD.

I really enjoyed it myself. It certainly didn't live up to my expectations, but after all that hype how could it possibly? I say if it's taken just as an action film then it is a great movie. I remember walking out of the theatre almost out of breath because the film was pretty much wall-to-wall action.

I actually remember attending zero hour and yelling out" COOL!!!" during the Neo vs. Smith battle. As far as I'm concerned, that is the ultimate superhero battle and I'm glad the Wachowskis made before McG could rip it off in his Superman movie.

You're SICK!

First one - Very good. Exciting, and fun to watch. Pretty much what everyone else thinks. Was really a mind-bender when I was in the 9th grade. Now, the philosophy seems a little silly to me.

Second one - Very disappointed with the special effects during a couple key moments (the 18-wheeler explosion and 'burly brawl'). Really liked the characters (Ghosts, The Keymaker). And I also really dig the way that they're 'programs'. I just thought that they whole premise was cool.

Third one - Lame & uninvolving. I just didn't feel 'into' the movie like I like to. Can't tell you why. I saw the movie opening night, by myself. So my look on the film had not been influenced by anyone else. I just didn't like it. When I heard "it is done", I just thought "UGH!". It felt like the Wachowski's were out of ideas. "Okay, there's going to be mechs, BIG mechs. And they're going to shoot at people like gangstas." And then, to boot, they had [what felt like] twenty minutes of filler shots of the mechs emptying rounds at the bad guys. I could only take so much of a guy screaming and shoot the bad guys. It got old.

And I love anime, too.

Revolutions was an entertaining action movie, so there's nothing wrong with liking it. I liked, but it just pales in comparison to the first two.

I'm a big fan of the entire trilogy. You're not alone when you say you liked it, most people probably won't admit that they liked it. Other people's opinions were probably biased even before they saw the movie. I've seen some decent arguments against the movie but most of them just don't make sense - especially the critical reviews. But of course there are those who genuinely dislike the movie... don't feel bad because you like something the majority don't!

I absolutely loved it, as well as the entire trilogy. I watched it in IMAX and was absolutely floored by the attack on Zion and the final battle between Neo and Smith. Personally, i've stopped caring about what people bashing it have to say, and i actually enjoyed the trilogy more then LOTR.

What I think people bought to Revolutions were expectations as to how the series would end. Reloaded proved the Wachowskis were obviously going to go off in some other vein. I think people wanted to see Neo fight some big Voltron robot or something and defeat the machines in a very simple way and the Wachowskis had no intention of doing such a simplified story. I loved the movie and will put the FX work in it against ROTK anyday and that it wasnt nominated for an Oscar FX was a crime.

I think that the Wachowskis knew what kind of story they wanted to tell, and that they also knew that it wouldn't really please everyone. I think they knew Reloaded would do well with a built in audience factor regardless of whether or not people liked it; they would watch it because it was "cool". I also felt they understood their core audience and used Reloaded as a way to weed out the people who would stick with the story to the end from the casual fans.
Do I think they lost some fans? Yes. But they have made their movie and told their story without having to worry about B.O. tickets to hinder its continuation, and that is a true accomplishment in Hollywood nowadays. When it boils down, the Matrix trilogy might be the only big budget epic with a cult following instead of pop icon status.

WHat i think hurt Revolutions FX nod was Silver crowing that they were doing stuff better than anyone else and that mightve caused a backlash.

It was actually something like ESC (the Matrix VFX house, led by John Gaeta) refused to "share" their technology with other people. The Academy didn't like the team and their exclusiveness, I guess. More proof that the the Oscars are complete bullsh*t.

I could see that. While I like some of his productions, Silver is an ass for the most part.

I liked Reloaded and Revolutions, though not nearly as much as the original. The sequels strayed from what many anticipated to be the next steps in the storyline; they were also fairly convoluted, which kicked in the "Hate the Matrix" bandwagon. I believe that years from now, when the dust has settled and people look back on the trilogy, it will be held in much higher regard.

Nope nothing wrong with you, just the haters seem to yell louder then those that loved the movie. Personally I liked the movie the second it was over, wasn't one of those cases where I even had to think about it. Now my friend who I saw it with said it was "ok", then a few weeks later he was ragging about it on internet forums, talk about jumping on the bandwagon.

I thought it was far better than Reloaded. I never understood why it got worse reviews than part 2, and why people were so disappointed with it.

However I do feel my prediction came true when I said that the Matrix films took a trilogy to do what Dark City did in one film. I still think it's better than any of the Matrices.

I loved it. It's my favorite of the series. Although the first Matrix ranks higher in my all time favorite movies, if that makes any sense.

I thought Revolutions was a good looking film, but that's about it. I was actually expecting some huge twist, Keyzer Sozay ending. The movie depressed me.

I loved it as well. The action continued to be awe-inspiring, and the resolution to the plot was at the same time the most logical ending, but not the one I was expecting. The movie had flaws (there were some plot elements that weren't explained too well), but I simply can't agree with a lot of the complaints about it.

I'm greatly looking forward to the DVD so I can do a Matrix trilogy marathon

I thought the last movie was very good and a worthy ending to the trilogy. It should have at least been nominated for an Academy Award for FX. Both Reloaded and Revolutions came out last year and they both had great special effects

I liked it. I saw it as a really good Sci Fi Movie while Reloaded was a really good Action Movie and Matrix was a really good Martial Arts movie.
