Anybody?

Satch said in a recent MSN chat that they pretty much skipped with the extras to make room for the best video and audio.

So thoughts?

Initially, I was disappointed with the tracklisting selection when it was announced, but after receiving it last week, it's stellar. You get a widescreen presentation (not sure if it's anamorphic), and fantastic audio. The extras are laughable (a lighting plot diagram?!?!) and brief bios. You do get an alternate camera angle on three tracks. The performances speak for themselves. If you like the guitar players, you'll love the show. I was at the San Diego show, 3rd row, aftershow passes, etc. For me, it was a no-brainer.

I bought it and liked it more than the 1st G3 DVD release. As Jippy notes, the audio and video are great, better than it's predecessor. The performances are good too, particuarly Steve Vai. If you liked the 1st release with Vai, Johnson and Satch, then you should enjoy G3#2.

I bought it. For 12.99, I figure it's a steal.

Satch, Vai and Malmsteen are on this one Michael.

Ok, I just watched some of it including the jam at the end and I think somebody should seriously tell Yngwie that the 80's are in fact, over. :)

Any plans to release any of the shows with Petrucci?

Sadly, no. Although I managed to obtain a *ahem* unauthorized VHS of that show. An official release would have been great, but I'm sure Epic has no plans to revisit this material anytime soon. I don't even think they did an official camera shoot for it.

Any idea why? Were there bad vibes there cuz of Petrucci? I know in the LA leg of that tour, at one point they also had Paul Gilbert join them. My goodness talk about orgasmic. Satriani, Vai, Petrucci, Gilbert on guitars, Sheehan and Hamm on Bass.

I wonder if they could get Nuno to join them in the next one...
